A special train leaving the Northwestern depot at 1:40 o'clock (Chicago time) will carry the guests to Lake Geneva. Miss Carpenter, who is known as Polly, is one of the most attractive young women in Chicago society. Her marriage to Mr. Boyden, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Boyden of 725 Pine street, will be one of the most interesting of the season. Mr. Boyden was graduated from Harvard Law school last year and during the war served in the aviation corps. Delegates will also be chosen for the County convention to be held in Willard Hall on September 29 and 30, and the State convention in Quincy, October 12-15. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Greeley went east last week to attend the wedding of Mr. Greeley's sister, Mrs. Alvah Crocker, Jr., and Norman Harrower of Fitchburg, Mass., which took place last Saturday at Ogunquit, Me. Miller is now a resident of Win- netka, visited in Winnetka over Labor Day. Mrs. Smith, who lately returned from abroad, where she was engaged in the reconstruction work in France, is now speaking in the middle west in behalf of Harding and Coolidge. For the past week she has been speaking through Wisconsin, and will leave this week for Indiana, returning to Chicago later. Mrs. Smith is known all through the west as one of the best informed women on welfare work and is a brilliant speakers. aif The North Shore British-American Social club held another of their popular masquerade dances on Satur- day evening last at Community House. According to the judges who found it extremely difficult to award the prizes, the costumes of various characterizations were excellent. The Misses Somerville captured the first and second prizes for the women, and Messrs. Thomas and George Marshall, the first two prizes for the men. RAF Mrs. Charles Nicholas Strotz and Miss Katherine Kay Strotz of Sher- idan road, are leaving next Monday for New York. Miss Strotz will fin- ish her course at the Dramatic School of Arts and Sciences, and expects to be away throughout the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Strotz will divide their time between New York and their Swans Point esate in Virginia. ef en Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schuettge have issued invitations for the mar- riage of their daughter, Irma Frances to George Arthur Hallstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Halistein of Birch- wood, to take place Saturday after- noou, September 25, at the Wilmette Presbyterian church. Rev. George P. Magill will read the service at 4 o'clock. bf Mr. and Mrs. William O. Green and family, who have been occupy- ing the Francis Peabody Butler's house this summer, will open their residence on Astor street next Thurs- day. Gary of Hubbard Woods will be freshmen at Harvard, which opens the first week in October. He is now visiting in the east. Be- fore the girls return to Miss Wheel- er's school to resume their studies, they will visit in Washington, New York and Atlantic City. af Rev. and Mrs. James Austin Rich- ards and family, 577 Ash street, will return from Bridgton, Maine, where they have been spending the summer, on Thursday of next week. Mr. Richards will occupy the pulpit at the Congregational church on Sep- tember 19. Biery of Tulare, Cal. He has been named Edward A.
