SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1920 Training The Boys By state legislation all boys in New York between the ages of sixteen and nineteen must be registered for mili- tary training. The ruling is not limited to the boys in the schools, al- though the registration and training are a part of the school work. In the early months of the prepara- tion of the United States for partici- . pation in the great war appreciation of the beneficial effect of the regime in the training camp upon the phy- sique and bearing of the young men submitted to it was very generally and enthusiastically expressed. Ex- cept for the prospect of the danger into which they were to be sent the circumstance which brought military training upon American youth was generally considered well worth what it cost, both in money and in time. This is the benefit that is being preserved for the boys of New York.
