Lamke purchasers of the Oakland-Phillips motor company are now operating the garage and salesroom at 1017 Davis street, Evanston, under the firm name of Jans-Lamke Motor best lighted and heated of those ly- ing between Chicago and Milwaukee. Mr. Jans is an Evanstonian by birth and is well known on the north shore due to his activities with the Evans- ton Community Recreation associa- tion and in golfing circles. He is married, has four children and resides at 2019 Ridge avenue. He is a mem- ber of the Evanston Elks lodge, New- man Council of the Knights of Colum- bus, the C. O. F. and the Evanston Commercial association. Mr. Lamke is a graduate of North- western university and captain of the basketball team in 1912. Mr. Lamke was agent for the Franklin at Red- land, California, but sevred his con- nection there to accept a partnership with Mr. Jans. Mr. Lamke is married | and resides at 2316 Park place, Ev-| anston. FORDSON TRACTOR IN RECORD RUN IN NORTH DAKOTA Stopping only for gasoline and oil, a Fordson tractor owned by N. Korpua of Ludden, Dickey county, N. D., recently completed a record run of forty days. Three operators were assigned to the tractor, each work- ing an eight hour shift and thus keep- ing the tractor in operation twenty- four hours a day. "Nine hundred acres were plowed without one min- ute's stop for repairs," says the affi- davit received by the Ford company from the Fordson owner. The tractor was purchased during the summer of 1919. When the same thing hap- pens on six or eight nearby streets, served from the same cable terminal, there must be new main cables from terminal boxes to the exchange. Such increases from several localities soon call for additions to switchboard and terminal room facilities. Finally a new exchange, with its costly equipment, must be built, and extensive re-distribution made of the outside plant.
