Ww NNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 1921 a similar 'move, which would have led the erection of stores on the same ract, was frustrated. Fight Business Invasion While the discussion was character- | ized by good-will throughout it left "no doubt as to the intention of the community to fight to an end any ef- ort to introduce a commercial dis- ct into what is now a purely resi- ntal center. A motion was carried nt of all present that it was for best interests of the entire com- nity that the present character of trict remain unchanged. The need was also expressed | throughout the business session for a park for Indian Hill, the logical | sight being that which the meeting understood the zoning expert had recommended for a business section. ~ Thus the old 'fight between civic beauty and commercialism appears | to be again under way, and, judging \ by the tenor of the association's P meeting, there is little doubt as to | which will prevail. : Home Talent Delights After the business session the gathering was favored with two de- t lightful evidences of Indian Hill tal- . ent. Mrs. A. B. Cooley, and Mr. 8. ~ B. Orwig each sang four songs | which were greatly appreciated by the audience. At the conclusion of this enjoyable part of the evening's program, refreshments, consisting of coffee and sandwiches, prepared by the women of the community, were served. ~The evenings' entertainment was rounded off by dancing and by all present getting better acquainted. This association meeting was with- out question the most successful ever held in Indian Hill, and prom- ises well for the balance of the winter program, as well as for the ~~ up-building of a strong community spirit in this attractive and rapidly | growing section of Winnetka. Not a bad spirit in a church. 'The recommendation of the com- mittee is this: Go get your ticket as usual, leave your name with the sec- retary, then, if a waiting list does oc- cur you can be notified and surrender your ticket if you wish. Such notice would not come later than Monday, January 17. Tickets are obtainable at Community House until noon of Monday, January 17. ATTENDS MEETING Fire Chief G. H.
