The detour between Lyons and La Grange, Illinois, on Ogden avenue, is in a very poor shape. The Dixie Highway between Chi- cago and Danville is in a splendid shape with the exception of the de- tour just north of Watseka. The bridge is out and the detour is a mud road, very bad. Route No. 10 from Danville to De- catur is very good except the mud road between Fithian and Urbana, which is almost 'impassable. Bad stretches improving. Roads radiating from Springfield are slowly drying and will be in a passable condition in a few days un- der the present weather. Practically all dirt and gravel roads in the cen- tral part of Illinois. 5 Missouri roads arg drying very rapidly; practically all dirt roads and they have been quite muddy and dif- ficult; in some places impassible. Road conditions in Towa are fair to good; rapidly improving; no snow and rough stretches are gradually smoothing out. Nebraska roads are thawing after the heavy snow, muddy and rough in places. In the western parts the roads are very bad. : Roads in the vicinity of Dallas, Texas are dry but rough. Sherman to Dallas under construction; Eufau- la to Durant, Okla., very bad. The Ozarks Trail from Las Vegas to Ama- rillo, Texas, is in a good condition. The National Old Trails north and south of Las Vegas is fair to good. Snow has been reported on the Na- tional Old Trails throughout Trini- dad, Colorado. 7% 7 7 7 NN 74 INN, AN % KILLED BY AUTOMOBILE An automobile driven by John M. Henderson, 619 Laurel avenue, struck and killed Mrs. Lewis Tallmadge, 70, of 1824 Hinman avenue, Evanston, late Wednesday night at Davis street and Judson avenue, Evanston. The accident, it was declared, was un- | avoidable. A high stone wall sur- rounding the estate of Henry J. Patten at that intersection and ob- structing the view is said to have been responsible for many accidents at that corner. The injured woman was taken to the Evanston hospital by A. W.
