WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MAY 7, 1921 GREAT LAKES LEADER | SUNDAY CLUB SPEAKER Capt. D. W. Wurtsvaugh to Outline Great Work Accomplished at U. S. Naval Training Station BRYAN HERE ON MAY 15 Great Commoner to Address Final Meeting of the Season on "Brute - or Brother" Since the war closed and the hun- dreds of thousands of men in the navy have been mustered out, the public in a larger degree has forgot- ten the important work that is still going on at Great Lakes Naval sta- tion. Citizens of the north shore who were so greatly interested in the jackies during war time have even thought that because many of the | emergency buildings have been dis-- mantled, the work of the training station was over. On Sunday, May 8, at the Wilmette Sunday Evening club there will be an opportunity to learn what Great Lakes is still doing to build up healthy young Americans from the four corners of the country. On that occasion Capt. D. W. Waurtsvaugh will be the speaker of the evening and will discuss the benefits of the naval training at the station. Special music for the services will be an organ recital by Mrs. Marie Edwards Von Ritter. Final Meeting May 15 Next Sunday will be the last meet- ing of the Sunday Evening club for the present season. Hon. William Jennings Bryan will be the speaker and will preach on the subject of "Brute or Brother". The season just closing is the sixth in this Wilmette community enterprise. The services have been exceptionally well attended and the size of the Sunday evening audiences indicates not only that the club is at the heighth of its popularity but that it has apparently made a perma- nen place for itself in the religious life of the community. The announcement was made at that time that a crew was to be or- ganized at once in .order that it might get on the water this summer. Saturday night the formal enrollment will take place; the boys will be as- signed to billets; and a suitable name will be chosen Yor the ship. It is ab- solutely necessary that the recruits be Scouts, but as any poy may become a Scout, this should prove no obstacle. Although a Seascout must be fifteen years of age or older, the cabin boy grade is open to the younger Scouts.
