MERMAIDS PREPARE FOR ANNUAL SWIM CONTEST Twelfth annual swimming meet of the girls of Northwestern University will be held at the gymnasium at 4 o'clock, November 15, 17, and 22. Se- ven events will make up the meet, in- cluding forty yard sprints of four styles, crawl, breast, side, and back strokes, a plunge for distance, a fan- cy diving contest, and 160 yard relay race, free style. Two will be on the re- gular class team, and another two will act as substitutes. Any girl may compete in three events in the meet. Each girl must attend six practices before she is eligible to try out for positions. Five, three, two, and one points will be awarded for first, se- cond, third and fourth places. Sixty girls have signed up, but interest in the meet seems to be most marked among the underclass women. "Jack wanted to kiss me last night," she told her girl friend. "How do you know he did?"
