The regular gymnasium class work in Community House is called off during the coming holiday week, but, even so, it promises to be a busy one with the special activities and inter- esting events. On Tuesday evening a "Camp Reunion Dinner will bring to- gether the boys and girls who have spent many happy summer days in camp on Lake Hamlin. This is an annual event and eagerly looked for- ward to by these young people. The Oberlin players will be seen in the gymnasium on Tuesday even- ing in some interesting plays, exceed- ingly well done. The Parent-Teach- er Association is responsible for bringing this entertaining opportu- nity to Winnetka. At the Indoor Baseball Ieague game, Wednesday evening, the Legion plays the All-Stars. The Holiday Party for the boys: and girls in the Social Dancing classes will be given on Thursday afternoon. On Saturday evening, the Young People's club will give a holiday party in the gymnasium. Herdman, 554 Oak street, is to be the scene of a happy family reunion over the holidays when the children, Miss 'Margaret Herdman, of New York City; Mr. and Mrs. F. V. Hinsdell, well known dramatic coach on the north shore and son of Mrs. O. A. Hinsdell, 501 Washington avenue, who is spending the winter in New Orleans, is the director of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre in that city. Mr. Hinsdell has just finished pro- ducing the second play of the sea- son. The people with whom he works, though not professionals, are all interested in the better theatre movement and eager to produce plays of the highest type. Their last play, Eugene "Beyond the Horizon," received much favorable comment from the New Orleans newspapers. This was the most ambitious piece the company has attempted and the director was much gratified at its enthusisatic re- ception. Heretofore, the performances of the little company were treated as social affairs, but under Mr. Hins- dell's direction it is beginning to take up things more serious which are worthy of the most thorough dramatic criticism. Mr. Hinsdell and his family expect to remain in New Orleans until spring when he will perhaps return to Evans- ton to resume his work here. lle SN Mrs. Hayward H. In his latest film, "The Three Musketeers," which is to be shown at the Community House Jan- uary 4, 5 and 6, Mr. Fairbanks proved that he is every inch an actor. The Three Musketeers are as con- vincing as if they had stepped right out of one of the old steel-engraved illustrations of the Dumas book. Douglas Fairbanks' work as D'Ar- tagnan entitles him to a position on the topmost rung of the ladder of fame. Those who have had their doubts as to Mr. Fairbanks' ability as an actor of dramatic roles will quickly discard these doubts when they watch his presentation of this character. He is more restrained, by far more dra- matic than in anything he has ever done before. His love-making is of the sort that rings true; it is neither silly nor over-done. The scene in which he comes to the Queen exhaust- ed but with the jewels he was sent to recover is one of the most dramatic and realistic ever seen on either stage or screen.
