Anning and Mrs. Harvey I. Brewer, to- gether with Mrs. Dwight C. Orcutt of Glencoe, gave 4 a most delightful pro- gram of French music at the Winnetka Woman's club on Thursday, January 19. The club is justly proud always of the accomplishments of these musi- cians; their charming poise, artistry and conscientious interpretaticns are a continual source of delight. 'They gave of their best in the subtle and fascinating compositions peculiar to the French people. The visiting artist was Mrs. William Howe, soprano, pupil of Franz Pro- «hewsky, whose wife ably acted as ae- con panist. Mrs, Howe sang admirably, several "Bergerettes" and concluded with a beautiful renditioa of the "Louise" aria of Charpentier. Mrs. Louis Schmid was in charg? of this program. A very enjoyable afternoon under the auspices of the Drama Study class teck place at the club roori en Mon- day, January 23. The one-act play, "Overtones," was presented by a cast comprising Mrs. Harry H. Barnum, Mrs Wiliam Ogden Coleman, Mrs. Licyu axon, and Mrs. J. Williams Macy. The parts were each one well taken and the audience showed a bearty appreciation of the play and ihe players. The author of this clever play, Miss Alice Gerstenberg, was presented, and spoke briefly on what constitutes a play and what ability and preparation is necessary for a would-be author. The contest for the writing of one- «ct plays which is open to all resi- dents of Winnetka will close Febru- ary 1, aid &ll manuscripts must be turned in by that time. The success: ful play will be presented by the class. The Board of the Winnetka Woman's club is offering Citizenship classes, conducted by Mrs. Maurice H. Lieber, free of charge to every woman in Win- netka.
