WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 1922. Would Clear Up Forfeited Property The above group will be recognized as that of several New Trier Town- ship's civic leaders who met in con- ference Monday of this week to dis- cuss means of foreclosing New Trier township's numerous forfeited prop- erties on which taxes, general or special assessment, have not been paid over a period of twenty-five years or more. The group includes repre- sentatives of the various township taxing bodies, and members of the North Shore Real Estate board. WANTED: SOME MEN BIBLE CLASS INFOS Issue Call to Men to Enter Ranks of New Organization "Wanted: Winnetka Men," is the campaign adopted by the Men's Sun- day Morning Class of the Congrega- tional church in its drive to increase its membership to the 300 mark. The class, organized a few weeks ago, and already one of the flourishing religious-civic-social institutions in the village, meets every Sunday morn- ing in the gymnasium of Community House under the leadership of William Ayer McKinney. The class convenes for one hour beginning at 9:45 o'clock. The express purpose of the Sunday Morning class is to effectively match up Christianity with the prent day in 'business, home and community life. ~The weekly meetings have been term- ed "Character building programs." D. D. Luckenbil! Speaks This Sunday Dr. D. D. Luckenbill will give to the class a view of the world in the time of Elijah and Eli- sha. He is an authority on the nations which were neighbors of Israel at that time, conducting work in the Univer- sity of Chicago in the Semitic Lan- guages and Literature. He will help to an understanding of what the po- litical world then was, what was the notion of the physical world, of gov- ernment, of the family, of God, among those people who surrounded Israel. Any man who comes only for this address will be amply repaid. Those attending the class at any later time in the course will find it almost in- dispensible. The class regrets that Prof. J. M. P. Smith, who was announced last week, is prevented from attendance by illness in his family. Dr. Lucken- bill is an associate of his and recom- mended by him. Professor Smith has promised to be present at a later date. The class offers a fine opportunity for the men of Winnetka to get ac- quainted. There were 52 men out last Sun- day. The leaders expect @ouble that number tomorrow. It is the endeavor of the members to make this the largest Bible class on the north shore, the wholesome in- fluence of which will be felt through- out this vicinity. The class is open to every man in Winnetka who can spare an hour on Sunday morning for an inspirational and instructive discussion of modern day problems as relating to Christian- ity, and hour of genuine fellowship. The class is planning social pro- grams for the near future. Leslie J. Dodds is president of the class. Lawrenece A. Janney is chair- mon of the Membership committee. ALLEGED HOLD-UP TRIO HELD FOR OTHER JOBS Arrest of three Evanston men Sun- day in connection with a hold-up in the vicinity of the Dempster Inn, Dempster street and Waukegan. road, it is thought may have solved several recent buglaries and prowlings in the north shore villages. The men, Thomas Hebson, taken near the scene of the hold-up when he was returning to the deserted bandit car; Ralph Johnson, shot by Policeman Ted Struhm, in a thrilling gun duel as the former approached the machine at the heels of Hebson; and the arrest later of Jacob Stein- buck at his home in Evanston after he had been implicated by the other captives, were being questioned this week in an endeavor to clear up the so-called "Lovers' Lane" banditry and a series of recent jewel robberies in this vicinity.
