Set vil x 4 Sel PT. WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 1922. UH, FOR THE LIFE OF A GAY TOURIST! P. W. Bradstreet Comments Enthusiastically On Balmy Breezes of Florida Coast WINTER SHIVERS GONE Hoyts and Bradstreets Enjoy Summer Expeditions Two hours a day in the surf; whisk- ing over the smooth highways; fishing for bass, golfing hunting 'duck or quail; eating grapefruit and oranges right off the trees;that's life in Janu- ary on Florida's east coast. No. we haven't been reading a high- ly embellished tourist guide, simply an extremely interesting letter from P. W. Bradstreet who, with Mrs. Brad- street is enjoying the "balmy but not a bit enervating atmosphere" of the great winter resorts. Writing from the New St. Elmo hotel at Green Cove Springs, Florida, the winter home of Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liam M. Hoyt II, Mr. Bradstreet lets us in on some thrilling bits of "sum- mertime" gossip, to-wit: "Mrs. Bradstreet and I have just re- turned here after a most wonderful auto trip down the east coast of Florida with Mr. and Mrs. William M. Hoyt II. Talk about your 'Fairy- lands!" From Ormond through Day- tona, Cocoa, Palm Beach and Miami the scenery is beautiful, the roads per- fect (best we have ever seen), and the air balmy and not a bit enervating. The largest tourist hotel in the world is the Royal Ponciana at Palm Beach, where we spent two days, and three days on the ocean at Miami Beach. The Daily Swim "We are bathing down here in Janu- ary, and I was in the water two hours, while you have been shivering up north," he continues. "The Royal palms and Cocoanut palms are alone worth the trip down here to see in their native state. We have seen sharks swimming near the shore, peli- cans in large numbers fishing in the ocean and rivers, and eaten grapefruit and oranges right off the trees from the famous Indian River groves. "hig little town, where the Hoyt family has spent the past 39 winters, is very old and quaint--was originally a Spanish Grant and is a most charm-, ing and restful place on the beautiful ; St. John's river, whic his more like a lake than a river, being six miles wide right here. Mr. Hoyt and 1 caught twelve large bass here 'the other day--one eight pounds, which our hotel is having stuffed ana mounted. "Have two golf courses, fine quail and duck hunting, boating and a fine auto. Trip from here to the ocean, either at St. Augustine or Atlantic Beach, near Jacksonville. TI can cer- tainly recommend this place and this hotel for a winter home for our Win- netka friends." Mr. and Mrs. Bradstreet left Win- netka a little over a month ago and expect to return to the village later this month. Incidentally, they are re- ceiving the Winnetka Talk every week, which they "have enjoyed reading more than ever while away from home --in fact look forward to each week." E. D. Bradstreet is in charge of the Winnetka realty offices in the absence of his brother.
