PAY TAXES PROMPTLY ADVIGE OF LEADERS Presidents of Villages, Boards of Education, Park Districts, Issue Common Appeal OFFICES TO OPEN SOON Township Collector to be at Wilmette Bank Presidents of villages, boards of education, and park districts in New Trier township, together with Town- ship Clerk Leland V. Pierson, this WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1922 week issued a formal appeal to New Trier taxpayers requesting that taxes, real estate and personal, be paid as promptly as possible to Collector Hoyt King at his offices in the First National Bank of Wilmette. Payment of taxes at the township headquarters insures prompt disbhurse- ment of the funds to the various tax- ing bodies in the township, it is ex- plained. Failure to pay taxes at the township offices necessitates a journey to the county treasurer's of- fices in Chicago, entailing consider- able inconvenience with the possibil- ity of oversights that may bring an- noying penalties. Taxes paid to the county treasurer do not reach the beneficiaries for about four months which means the taxing bodies would be forced to issue anticipation war- rants necessitating payment of inter- est. Payment Here--Big Saving New Trier township is entitled, by statute, to two per cent of all moneys collected in excess of $200,000. Last year this amounted to between $5,000 and $6,000. This sum, together with interest on the .money temporarily is busy all the time. All were re- vived. The property loss was esti- mated at $50,000. It is said that a well-built chimney, 100 feet high, will sway from three to four inches in a high wind without danger of falling.
