ADVENTURE LA 01S SL JE 1 Embark on Dream Girl as Vanguard of Larger Party At daybreak Wednesday morning, June 21, twelve north shore boys will set out on a cruise of adventure in Northern Wisconsin. The twelve will be the vanguard of a party of thirty, bound for Adventure Island, the camp for boys conducted by Charles A. Kinney. In Wilmette harbor the forty-foot cruiser, Dream Girl, which will carry twelve of the boys to camp, rides to her anchor, the black flag with skull and cross-bones lying from her truck. For weeks the boys have been working with feverish expectancy overhauling her and getting her in commission. By Monday evening large quantities of canned goods, bacon, eggs, bread, beans, fruit and other good eats will be stowed aboard, not to mention filling her fuel tanks and getting the camp equipment aboard. Makes Record Cruise . With this season's run, the Dream Girl will have cruised more than 20,- 000 miles on Lake Michigan, Huron and Superior, equivalent to four- fifths of the distance around the world. The cruise from Winnetka to Adventure Island requires about 33 hours, which it is planned to cover without stop. The boys divide into watches of two hours each, half of which time is usually spent eating, half doing a trick at the wheel. The boy who, from the deck of a small craft, has watched the sun disappear over the port bow, taking with it the sight of everything but the stars, to reappear many hours later on the starboard, that boy, especially if he has shared in the responsibility of guiding the craft through the night, has had an experience that will never fully leave him, and henceforth, the sun will have for him a new meaning. Don Pirate Garb Arriving at camp the boys will don their pirate costumes and take pos- session of the island in the name of Captain Kidd and his departed spirit. Camp is located in the wildest sec- tion of the island. Besides the thirty boys, the personnel will include sever- al dogs, three cows and two horses, all of which will be cared for entirely by the boys. The Winnetka boys of the party include Dan Kohlsaat, John Jewell, Jack Hunter, Billy Isom, James Mar- ble, Webster Jackson, Allan Wolff, Jimmy Fleming, John Benson, Fran- cis Lackner, Dick Massman, Sey- mour Ballard, Carl von Ammon, Mal- colm McConnell, Philip Hamilton, Alfred Alschuler, Ariel Jewell, Julius Albricht, Stuart Marble, Morris Hirsh, Herman Lachner, John Olm- sted, David DeLay, Philip Brenton, and English Walling. HOME RUN SMASH BEATS WINNETKA TEAM A lad who smacks out home runs when least expected contrived to de- feat Winnetka's able ball club last Sunday afternoon. He wore Highwood spangles and picked out a groove ball in the ninth inning when Winnetka held sway 3 to 1. When Highwood's Bambino concluded his performance the story read 4 to 3, Highwood's favor. That also, was the final score. The four base smash came with two outs and the runways occupied by two hostiles. Lucchesi hurled steller ball for the locals and deserved victory. The ninth inning break altered the entire proceedings, however, and that's that. This Sunday Winnetka will hook up with a strong Chicago nine, not as yet designated. The game will be played on the local Playfield lot at 3 o'clock. Mrs. "SteVe" Fuller and her little son, Tom, are visiting Mrs. Fuller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles KX. Chandler.
