Notice is hereby given that sealed bids for the construction of an improvement of that part of Lot One (1) in the Sub- division of Block Thirty-six (36) in Win- netka, being a Subdivision of the North- east quarter of Section Twenty (20) and north half of Section Twenty-one (21) in Township Forty-two (42) North, Range Thirteen (13) Kast of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois, ac- cording to the Plat of said Subdivision of Block Thirty-six (36) as recorded in the Office of the Recorder of said Cook Coun- ty, Illinois, in Book 60 of Plats, at page 20, as Document Number 1842994, that lies south of a line drawn parallel with m---- and forty (40) feet south of the north line of said lot as measured at right angles thereto, and westerly of a' line drawn parallel with and seventy-five (75) feet southwesterly of the northeasterly line of said lot- as measured at right angles thereto; also that part of Lot Two (2) in the subdivision of Block Thirty- six (36) aforesaid that lies westerly of a line drawn parallel with and seventy- five (75) feet southwesterly of the north- easterly line of said lot as measured at right angles thereto, by grading, leveling, smoothing and rolling the surface of the same so as to present a gentle slope from the easterly line thereof to the westerly line thereof, by planting trees and shrubs along the southerly side thereof, by spreading top soil and cow manure on the surface of the said real estate, by seed- ing the surface thereof, and by construct- ing in said real estate a brick masonry water meter vault, connected by a lead service pipe to the present water main in Oak Street, in the Village of Winnetka, with necessary wrought iron union and brass water gate valve, and by draining the said real estate and by restoring to its present condition the pavement in Oak Street where the same shall be opened to make necessary water pipe and sewer connections, and by providing cast iron lawn sprinkler hydrants and sprinkler service pipe on said real estate, including all necessary labor and materials, all in the Winnetka Park District in the County of Cook and State of Illinois, otherwise known as Winnetka Park District As- sessment No. 363,958 in accordance with the ordinance heretofore passed therefor, will be received by the Board of Local Improvements of the Winnetka Park Dis- trict by or before eight o'clock p. m., on Thursday, the Sixth day of July, A. D. 1922, at which hour all bids will be opened at a meeting to be held in the Council Chamber of the Village Hall, in Village of Winnetka, Cook County, nois. The specifications of said improvement are on file in the office of the Park Mana- ger at the Village Hall in said Village of Winnetka. Contractors will be paid by a cash war- rant authorized at the first regular meeting of the Board of Local Improve- ments of the Winnetka Park District after a recommendation of the acceptance of the work by the park engineer duly certified in writing, to the Board of Local Improvements of said Winnetka Park District. The successful bidder for the construc- tion of said improvement will be required to enter into bond in a sum equal to the amount of such bid, with sureties to be approved by the President of the Board of Local Improvements of the Winnetka Park District and filed with the said Board of I.ocal Improvements, which bond said I1i- shall provide that the contractor shall well and faithfully perform and execute said work in all respects according to the complete and detailed specifications and full and complete drawings, profiles, and models therefor and according to the time and terms and conditions of the con- tract, and also that such bidder and con- tractor shall promtly pay all debts in- curred by such bidder or contractor in the prosecution of such work, including those for labor and materials furnished, and that suit may be brought on such bond in case of default or failure to pay such debts promptly by and in the name of the Winnetka Park District, for all damages sustained either by the said District or by any person or party inter- ested, or for the damages sustained by the said District and all parties in inter- est, or by any beneficiary or party in- terested in the name of the Winnetka Park District for the use of the party interested as beneficial plaintiff, to re- cover for such labor and materials fur- nished. All bids or proposals shall con- tain an offer to furnish such bond upon the acceptance of such bid or proposal, In addition to the bond required as above set forth, and for construction and maintenance, the successful bidder will be required to furnish an indemnity and defense policy in some reliable company, indemnifying the Winnetka Park District against loss from liability for damages on account of injury or death suffered by reason of the performance of the work required to be performed by the said con- tractor, by any person or persons, in- cluding such liability imposed under the Employers' liability imposed under the compensation law of the State of Illinois, and the amendments thereto, in the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars.
