TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: The said Court by order duly entered herein having directed that notice be given to the said defendants and to all whom it may concern by publication as by law required, in the Winnetka Week- ly Talk, a newspaper published in the Village of Winnetka, County of Cook and State of Illinois, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN that the Village of Winnetka heretofore filed its petition in the Superior Court of Cook County, Illinois, praying for the ascer- tainment of the just compensation to be made for private property to be taken or damaged for the improvement of the south ten (10) feet of Lot Twenty (.J) and the south ten (10) feet of Lot Twen- ty-three (23) in McKinney's Subdivision of Block One (1) and Lots One (1) to Four (4) in Block Two (2) in John C. Garland's Addition to Winnetka, be- ing a subdivision of the north one hun- dred twenty (120) acres of the southwest quarter of Section Twenty-one (21) in Township Forty-two (42) North, Range Thirteen (13) East of the Third Prin- cipal Meridian, in the Village of Win- netka, Cook County, Illinois, by condemn- ing said ten (10) foot strip for use as a public thoroughfare upon which there shall be constructed a concrete side- walk six (6) feet in width extending from the present walk along the east side of Ridge Avenue to the present walk along the west side of Forest Street, the center line of which said sidewalk shall coincide with the center line of said ten (10) foot strip hereby proposed to be condemned, including excavation, grading, cinder base, the removal of all surplus exca- vated materials, all labor and materials, | and engineering and supervision during | construction, all in the Village of Win- netka, County of Cook and State of Il- linois, for the purpose of making said improvement, and of what property will be benefited thereby and the amount of such benefit, the estimated cost of such improvement being the sum of Two Thousand Six Hundred ninety-seven Dol- lars and fifty-one cents ($2,697.51); that Commissioners were duly appointed by said Court to investigate and report the just compensation to be made for priv- | ate property to be taken or damaged for | said improvement, and also what real | estate will be benefited by such improve- | ment, and the amount of such benefits to each parcel of land benefited thereby, and that said Commissioners duly made a special assessment to raise the cost of said improvement, and duly filed their report in the office of the Clerk of the said Court on the third day of August, | A, D, 1922, | Thereupon a summons issued out of | said Court against the defendants above | named and ALL WHOM IT MAY CON- CERN, returnable at the County Court House in the City of Chicago, in said County, on the fifth day of September, | A, tD. 71922, as Is Dy 'law 'required, | which proceeding is still pending. Now, unless you, the said defendants, designated as ALL. Judge Mickey Has It; Also Reward WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 5, 1922 Over a year ago Ralph Woodley, | a Racine youth, was arrested and | ordered to appear before Justice D. | M. Mickey. A month passed and the lad did not show up. Another month | passed with the same result. Finally a letter came to Judge Mickey from the boy's father saying he would ap- pear later. Time passed on and the boy did not appear. More letters from the father to the judge follower, Monday, motorcyclist Clement Ley, of Kenilworth, noticed a speeding car, | gave chase and arrested the driver. When taken into court the offender was found to be Woodley, who had delayed his appearance for so long. The following day young Woodley and his father appeared to answer the charges, They wanted a continuance of the case. "Can you give bond for your appear- | ance?" the judge asked. | "Yes, sir," the father answered. "How much bond can you furnish? How much are you worth?" the judge queried again. "Oh, T could get together a half-| million dollars, if I had to." The case was continued until August 7.
