WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1922 GRAND PRIZE TO GIVE YOUNG ARTIST START New Trier Prize May 'Make' Winnetka Artists Jacob Scherer, assistant janitor of the Community House at Winnetka, won the Dodge Touring car, the Grand Prize of New Trier Day. And Scherer's winning the car will make it possible for Mr. Scherer's wife and young daughter to continue their study of art at the Art Institute in Chicago. Both of them are considered artists of promise. They have been studying painting at the Chicago school. And things have not been going any too well for Mr. Scherer. It looked ag if they were going to -have to give up their study. He was having a hard time keeping them in their course. Mr. Scherer was the lucky winner of the car. It was delivered to him this week and he has already sold it for slightly less than the market value. And Mrs. Scherer and Miss Scherer are going to keep on with their art work. The Dodge grand prize may be the inception of a Rosa Bonheur of the future. The second prize in the drawing, $25 in cash, was won by M. McAteer, 849 Humboldt avenue, Winnetka. The third prize, $15, was drawn by Mrs. Helwig of the Kling and White store. Gross Point. Fourth and fifth prizes of $5 each went to K. Long, 827 Park avenue, Wilmette, and D.
