x 3 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1922 LOGAL CHURCH LEADS ILLINOIS IN GROWTH Congregational Church Wins Distinction The recently published year-book of the Congregational churches of America reveals the interesting fact that the Winnetka Congregational church showed a greater growth of membership in 1921 than any other Congregational church in Illinois. The church ranking next was the ~ Bryn Mawr church in Chicago, with 114; the local church surpassing this number by thirty. With the opening of the fall work, Rev. "James Austin Richards, the pastor, distributed widely through the parish a questionnaire designed to obtain the thoughts of the parish upon a number of matters of church | policy. Replies are coming in with every mail, it is said. The results| will presently be tabulated, and it is| therefore hoped that members of the | church who have not yet answered | will hasten to do so, for the value of | the results will depend largely upon | their completeness. | Distributes Questionnaires | Among the questions put to the parishoners that were expected to receive particularly interesting re- sponses were the following: Do you believe we should maintain a regular Sunday Evening service? Do you believe we should maintain a regular Mid-Week service? Do you see anything in the suggestion of an early morning service on Sundays, say 9 o'clock? Can you suggest any subject or series of subjects you will like to have treated in sermons or | mid-week services? Building Proposition Item One question has to do with the proposition of remodeling the present church edifice or the construction of | an entirely new building. The par-! ishioners are asked to express their views and offer suggestions relative to this proposition. > The final question takes the parish- ioner's thoughts far beyond the con- fines of the church. It reads: Have you any suggestions, big or little, for increasing and improving the ser- vice of our church to Winnetka and the world? Jesse R. Cain Directs Indian Hill Association Jesse KE.
