4 m-- WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1922 FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE RESUMES ACTIVITY Working Girls' Club Antici- pates Record Season "Friendship Circle" club for girls begins its year's meetings next Tues- day evening in Community House at 8:30 o'clock. This club was started a number of years ago as a friendly so- cial club for any girl working in Winnetka homes who wanted to have happy social times, and wished to get acquainted with others. That it is fulfilling its purpose is shown by the constantly increasing enroll- ment of members, and by the happy spirit of the club and the things it accomplishes. Part of the evening is given over to gymnastic work, under competent instructors, for those who wish it, and the rest of the evening is devoted to club activities and en- tertainment. The only fee for this is a two dollar membership in Com- munity House. Mrs. Ralph Snyder, who has been the leader of this group for the past two years, and under whose friendly and competent touch the club has grown to a large enrlolment (over seventy), is not able to give her full time this year, but will assist Mrs. Charles Kreger in the work. Mrs. Kreger brings to this group a sym- pathetic understanding of girls and an experience 'n leadership which promises well for the continued growth and usefulness of this group. There are enthusiastic and interesting plans ahead for the winter. Girls who are strangers in Winnet- ka are especially asked to attend this first meeting. Come and get acquaint- ed and find out what good times "Friendship Circle" can offer. phine McAllister, QUARANTINE VIOLATOR ENDANGERS CHILDREN E. A. Brion, 755 Greenwood ave- nue, Glencoe, received a fine in Jus- tice Northrop's Winnetka court Mon- day of this week following his arrest at the instance of Health Commis- sioner C. O. Schneider, on the charge of violating quarantine. Brion, according to Commissioner Schneider, failed to observe quar- antine regulations when his wife and two children were afflicted with car- let fever. His carelessness in per- mitting his children to attend school sessions, was said to have been re- sponsible for the spread of the dis- ease among other children in the village. The discovery that one of the Brion children was attending school while afflicted with scarlet fever caused a near panic among parents of school children in the village. In addition to the cases in the Brion family where Mrs. Brion and her sons, Edward, 5 years old, and Benja- min, 8 years old, were infected, four other cases developed among Glen- coe school children, directly traceable to the Brion family, Commissioner Schneider declared. Others suffering with the ailment are Harriet Postle, 8 years old, Doug- las and French Postle, both 6 years of age, of 853 Vernon avenue, and Jose- 6 years old, 951 Forest avenue.
