When Out Sight-Seeing Don't Miss the Knitters You may not have been informed that Winnetka has a real knitting mill and that, daily, some of the finest products of the knitters' art are placed at the disposal of local shoppers. The mill is at the home of Mrs. O. Spegel and Miss A. Sandvall, 545 Provident avenue. The women are in the business of manufacturing all kinds of knit goods, including sweaters, stockings and golfing togs. The machinery employed to produce these articles has been im- ported from Sweden, the home of the knitting industry. Mrs. Spegel's mother, who is 78 years of age, does most of the weav- ing. The garments are fashioned on the machine. Another feature of the business is a shoe department in which the shoe store goes to the customer. Only chil- dren's shoes of very extraordinary quality are handled and fittings are made by appointment at the home of the prospective customer. NEW WINNETKA RESIDENT Erwin Dames, formerly of Windes and Marsh, village engineers, is the new superintendent of public works who recently succeeded George H. Butler in that capacity. Mr. Dames moved to Winnetka from Evanston last Tuesday. MOONSHINE AND CELL . David Palmer, colored, of Evans- ton was arrested Monday of this week by the Winnetka police for disorder- ly conduct. Palmer was kept in the village lock-up until Wednesday morning.
