The purpose of the organiza- tion is to interest the business men which include the substantial farmers and truckgrowers of the county, in the entire Republican ticket to be vot- ed upon this fall as essential to the business welfare of the country towns. Among those present at the meet- ing were Edward Zipf, President ot Wilmette; Paul T. Klenk, President of Blue Island; Joseph Klenha, President of Cicero; August Geweke President of the Cook County Truck Gardeners as- sociation, William Hartray and George W. Paullin of Evanston, L. B. Springer of Wilmette, W. F. Propper, Supervis- or of Thornton Township, J. W. Stack- A. L. ADAMS "I advertise in the Winnetka Talk because I know from actual experi- ence that such advertising brings re- sults." Alva Lee Adams, proprietor of Adams' Pharmacy, Elm and Linden streets, made that statement to the editor of the Talk in reply to the point blank, unqualified question, "Why do you advertise in the Win. netka Talk?" "Advertising is a time saver," Mr. Adams continued. "The prospective purchaser needs something, sees it advertised and goes straight from where he is to where the article is sold. The newspaper, in our commu: nity and .in every community, is the logical advertising medium because it is read thoroughly with regularity and assumes a prominent place in community life. "Years ago when people wanted to know about things they harkened to the Town Crier. The newspaper has replaced that institution of earlier times and tells the people what they want to know, not only tells them the general news, but tells them, as well, what the storekeeper, the mer: chant has on his shelves."
