E. H. STEVENS, CIVIC LEADER, DIES SUDDENLY Edmond H. Stevens of 414 Essex road, Kenilworth, died at the Evans- ton hospital Saturday morning, Oc- tober 7, after an illness of little more than forty-eight hours. His death has come as a great shock and grief to his host of friends and all of the many who knew and loved him are sorrowing with Mrs. Stevens and her daughter, Frances, in their great be- reavement. Mr. Stevens was 54 years of age. He was vice president and general manager of the Miehle Printing Press and Manufacturing company of Chi- cago, the largest of its kind in the world. Asa resident of Kenilworth, Mr. Stevens was always active in every movement for the betterment of the village and had watched its growth with keen interest, serving for several vears on the Village Board where his excellent executive ability made him a most valued member. He was affiliated with a number of clubs, including the Chicago Athletic club and the North Shore Golf club. He leaves a very definite memory in the hearts of all who knew him and his genial, strong, friendly, loyal personality will be missed in innu- merable ways. Services were conducted Monday by the Rev. William A. Colledge at the Kenilworth Union church, of which Mr. Stevens had been a trustee. Burial was at Oakwoods. Besides his widow, Mrs. Georgene Williams Stevens, he leaves a daugh- ter, Frances Stevens Marx, and a brother, Mr. Charles Stevens of Chi- cago.
