Carr CARR EARNS BIG PROFIT County Treasurer Produces Largest Interest Yield in History If you had a contract with an employe, who during its existence, not only produced exceedingly profitable business for you but who otherwise indicated that he was unusually capable and efficient we believe that you would renew the contract with him. P. J. Carr has been County Treasurer since April, 1921, and in one fis- »al year he returned to the public account $654,419.90 or about $100,000.00 more than was produced by any predecessor. "Carr sets new record--interest total is largest in history," was the comment of the Chicago Daily News at the time. To expedite the business of paying taxes Mr. Carr has established 100 sub-stations throughout the City and County and he proposes to extend this system so that tax bills may be paid in drug stores and other places of letters of the present generation. Leading Literary Figure Abroad as at home, Mr. Lewis Is in- creasingly being recognized as a liter- ary figure of dignity and importance. His book "Main Street," is being translated into the German, Dutch and Swedish and in France a number that now handle gas and electric light bills. Mr. Carr has also installed a department for real estate men, a for- eign language section and a bureau of experts who without charge, give advice on how to avoid difficulties with tax-sharks. Other innovations established by Mr. Carr demonstrate commendable alertness in the people's interest and the fact that he demands of his employes the same courtesy and efficiency that the merchant requires in his business is further proof that he is a valuable administrator. Mr. Carr's contract expires soon. Will you renew it at the election Another GOOD THING of magazine articles have been de- voted to it. Aside entirely from his literary aspect, Mr. Lewis has, with unusual wideness and especially un- usual keenness of interest, wandered and inspected the "curious ways of man " . Referring to Mr. Lewis' ability as a speaker, the Chicago Tribune says, "God spoiled the best monologist in the world by giving Lewis brains enough to be a good author." Miss Mary Welch will be soloist at the Sunday Evening club this week. Girl Scouts | By V. RAE Girl Scouts in uniform appeared on the screen and in person last Friday evening at New Trier High school.
