| | | WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1922 CHRIST CHURCH HEARS BISHOP 8. MAC INNES Anglican Church Prelate to Discuss Jerusalem An interesting Winnetka visitor this week is the Rt. Rev. Rennie Mac- Innes, D.D., Bishop of the Church of England in Jerusalem, who will be the special preacher at the 11 o'clock service tomorrow morning in Christ church. Since shortly before the World war Bishop MacInnes has represented the Anglican Church in the Near. East, living in Jerusalem and addressing himself to the needs of the Christian and Jewish people in that most inter- esting of all lands. At the time of the capture of the Holy City by the British forces from the Turk, he, with Gen- eral Allenby, worked together to solve the difficult problems that arose. Since that time Church and State have together gone far to produce the political order which Jerusalem, now for the first time in centuries, is en- joying. Bishop MacInnes will speak at the service tomorrow on the conditions and needs of the people of Jerusalem. He, with Mrs. Maclnnes, are the week- end guests of Mrs. Hermon B. But- ler. Mrs. D. F. Stilling Dies; Operations Prove Fatal The sudden death on Friday, Octo- ber 13, of Mrs. Daniel F. Stilling, 159 Bertling lane, brought sincere grief to her many warm friends. Mrs. Stilling was obliged to undergo an operation, after which a second one was decided to be necessary, but her strength was not equal to the physical strain. She leaves a husband and four chil: dren, also four sisters. They have deepest sympathy in their bereavement. Friendship Circle Plans Big Hallowe'en Festivity Friendship Circle, Community House club for working girls, is enjoy- ing its full swing of activities and prospects are bright for the biggest vear in the history of that social or- ganization. The girls are planning a Hallow- e'en party to be held within the next fortnight. All working girls in the village are invited to this affair and urged to join the club. The club activities comprise sewing Miss Edith Ray Young TEACHER of PIANO circles, gymnasium work and parties |) at frequent intervals. Meetings are held at Community House once a week. Overheated Electric Iron Starts Fire in Residence An overheated electric iron was the cause of a small fire which broke out in the laundry of the John Stuart residence, 990 Sheridan road, at 4 o'clock Sunday morning. The blaze was discovered before it had an opportunity to gain much head- way, and prompt work on the part of Chief Houren's men kept the flames from spreading. The laundry board and part of the floor was burned. The damages amounted to about $75. The only other time that driver J. C. Schultz had a chance to drive the big truck this week was on Xriday night, October 13, when a call was sent in for the department to put out a small rubbish fire. TC Today!
