WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1922 Jottings From New Trier High A great deal of interest is being taken in the production of "Alice In Wonderland," to be given in the New Trier Auditorium, Friday and Satur- day evenings. Dr. Butler, librarian at the Newberry library, Chicago, when he heard of this play to be pro- duced by the high school Dramatic club, said, "Alice in Wonderland" is my favorite book. I am going out there to see it." A special periormance for the grade school of the north shore is to be given Friday night at 8 o'clock. The parents are welcome with the children. The Soccer team won from Oak Park last week and still has a percent- age of 1,000. The football team was defeated by Bloom, but still holds a second place in the Suburban league. Mr. Jones of Evanston gave a very interesting illustrated talk on his trip through South America, before the sutden*s in the Assembly Friday morning. During the ninth period each day Mr. Harper is conducting a special class in mathematics for students who are. not able to carry their work in the regular class. At this time they get individual instruction that assists them in mastering their difficulties. The class is planned especially for those who entered school late, those who have been absent, those who have come from other schools and whose work in preceding courses has not been as extensive as that in cor- responding courses at New Trier, and for those who are slower than others in grasping the work. Alumni News . James Paterson, '17, of Wilmette, has been elected president of the Senior class of Northwestern univer- sity. He is also captain of the var- sity football team and president of Deru, Senior Honor society. While at New Trier he made a record for himself in football and basketball. He left school to go overseas with an Ambulance corps during the World war and later joined a Scottish regi- ment, in which he became instructor in pistol practice. He was also president of the Senior class and was a fellow who was al- ways on the square. The student body, especially, acknowledged his leader-| ship. Albert Kelly, '29, of Wilmette, is playing guard on the Northwestern team and a star on the basketball honor student, a football star, and a prominent member of the Dramatic club, starring in "The Admirable Crichton." Robert Weinecke, '21, Glencoe, is playing fullback for Northwestern. At New Trier he was president of the Senior class, captain of the football team and a star on the basketball squad which won the district cham- pionship and took third honors in the state. George Budd, 22, is captain of the Northwestern Freshman football squad and recently scored 13 points in a victory over the Juniors. He was captain of New Trier's gridiron men last season.
