T36-1te Proposed New Homes Swell Week's Building Permits A permit authorizing the construe- tion of a bungalow worth $28,000, and another authorizing a $25,000 home swelled the total value of building per- mits granted last week to $69,000. The permit for the construction ot the $28,000 bungalow was issued to F. N. Pearson. and official of the Con- sumers Company. The house will be built at 877 Auburn avenue. The Stu- dell Engineering company are the ar- chitects. J. M. Dickinson, Jr., received the permit for the $25,000 dwelling. The house will be built at 1100 Pelham road. It will be a brick structure de- signed by Russell Walcott, 8 East Hu- ron street, Chicago. Another large permit was issued to Alex Weisz, who will erect a $15,000 brick veneer residence at 179 Fuller lane. Permits for the building of private garages were issued to George Wolfs, 511 Cedar street, and to P. E. Connor, 594 Cedar street, John Cecil Black, 1174 North avenue, was authorized to make an addition to his garage. Town Improvements Make Work for Public Service Co. An unusually large number of muni- cipalities in the territory of the Pub- lic Service Company have enacted improvement ordinances in the Iast two or three months. Many of them provide for sewers and paving thus necessarily requiring excavating streets. The Electric and Gas Departments of the Company have had more or less extra work, sometimes involving the removal of poles and gas mains as a consequence of these improve- ments. Where it has been necessary to move gas pipes they have usually been shifted to the parkway with the consent cf the municipal authorities,
