HOWARD THEATRE Dustin Farnum will hold the lime- light at the Howard theatre on Sun- day, February 4, in his latest success, "Three Who Paid." On Monday and Tuesday, February 5 and 6, Howard patrons will witness "Your Best Friend" as the feature production. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will bring "Brass Amendment" to the Howard. Every Howard program is featured by especially well adapted and ex- ecuted orchestra for the films. Miss Anita Sadler, organist, also is a prime favorite with the cinema enthusiasts who frequent the "House of Harm- ony." ADELPHI THEATRE Sunday's attractions at the Adelphi theatre Clark street and Estes avenue, Chicago, will be Tom Mix in "Ro- mance Land." Monday and Tuesday finds the fam- ous play "Pride of Palomar" at the Adelphi. The feature production for Wednes- day and Thursday, February 7 and 8, is "Clarence," Wallace Reid's last picture. "West of Chicago" will be the at- traction for Friday, February 9. HOYBURN THEATRE "The Flirt," Booth Tarkington's masterpiece, will have its first north shore run at the Hoyburn four days next week beginning at the matinee performance on Monday, February 5. Accompanying the great feature at- traction will be a popular comedy, "The Educator," with Lloyd Hamilton in the starring role. On Friday, the Hoyburn will be given over to a benefit performance for the Rockford College Endowment Fund. The film, "Turn to the Right," will be shown on that occasion. Saturday's leading attraction will be "Hearts Haven." Jottings From : New Trier High New Trier expressed its up-to-date- ness in a full-fledged Fashion Show at the Assembly last Friday afternoon, There were seventy real and quite alive models on display. Some time ago the Domecon club offered a prize for the best play that could be given to display the numer- ous gowns made by the members of the club in their sewing classes. Two productions, one written by Erna Christiansen, and the other by Har- riet Childs, were combined and given Friday afternoon, During the play one of the girls announced the cost of the different garments worn by the cast. There were morning, afternoon and school dresses and party gowns rang- ing in price from $1.69 to $38. After the very unique play, the stu- dents and visiting patrons gathered in the lunch room by a glowing fire of logs and indulged in punch and conversation. The Misses Van Horn, Moschel and Bertrams, who had charge of the af- fair, are to be highly complimented upon the type of work their students produced. Mrs. Bartlett of Hubbard Woods and Mrs. Bailey of Glencoe, gave a most delightful concert in the Assem- bly last Friday. Mrs. Bartlett was accompanist for a number of her own compositions interpreted by Mrs. Bai- ley. Among these were, "I will Lift Up Mine Eyes," "Robins Come," "Sweet Little Woman of Mine," "If I but Knew," "At Dusk." Mrs. Bartlett also sang a few of her own selections, At the close of the program Mrs. Cotton and Kathrine Hamilton gave two violin numbers, "Barcarolle" and "Caprice," which were accompanied by Mrs. Bartlett. The whole program was appreciated by the students. REALTORS' PUBLICITY CHAIRMAN W. G. Stacey, head of W. G. Stacey and company, Wilmette realtors, has been appointed a member of the Ap- praisal committee for Wilmette and chairman of the Publicity committee for the North Shore Real Estate Board of Suburban Chicago. Smallpox Epidemic Rages Among Near East Refugees Vaccination of all refugees from Anatolia on their way to Greece has been ordered from Constantinople au- thorities, in order to stay the in- creasing epidemic of smallpox, accord- ing to a cablegram received today at Near East Relief headquarters, 19 So. La Salle street, Chicago. "Three hundred cases of smallpox have been discovered in the past two days on ships arriving from Black Sea ports en route to Greece," the cable from Constantinople headquar- ters says. "The steamship Austrian had fifty cases among her 4.500 refu- gees. Vaccination has been ordered for all refugees, which will delay their trans-shipment at the Bosphorus. "Nine thousand refugees who ar- rived today on six ships from Black Sea ports, according to the arrange- ments for transportation under Near East - Relief auspices, were refused permission to land by Turkish police now in control. They stated that An- gora forbids any more of these refugees to enter Constantinople. They must therefore remain on board until delayed ships from Greece ar- rive for trans-shipment.
