In interpreting these figures, it should be borne in mind that the as- sessed valuation averages aproxi- mately twenty per cent of the actual cash value of real estate, so that the total tax rate for all purposes is ap- proximately two per cent of the real value of property. It will be noted from the schedule that the total tax rate for Winnetka, namely 10.46%, is lower than for Wil- mette and Glencoe, that for Kenil- worth being the lowest because of the jow village rate. The levy of 2.05% by the Village of Winnetka for muni- cipal purposes is distributed as fol- lows: ' Public benefits General corporate 1.333% Public benefits ......... .200 Bonds and interest .... 144 Carbage Ceara ven 133 Bibrary«......... 000. .200 Police pension ......... 020 Fire pension ..... .020 The foregoing statement shows that the Village levy of 2.05% is but twen- ty per cent of the total tax paid. The total levy for village, school and park purposes is 8.129%, or approximately 80 per cent of the total tax. The Prisoner of Zenda Makes an Ideal Picture "The Prisoner of Zenda," which will be shown at the Community House next Friday, is one of the sea son's super-plays. The magic of Rex Ingram, director of "The Four Horse- men," has given this old Anthony Hope classic of love and intrigue and adventure a new permanence on the screen. And as it comes to life in all the beauty and magnificence which only the screen could give it, be- comes a thing of pure romance and enchantment. N This picture may or may not have cost Metro a million dollars, but it is certain that it could have been no more beautifully nor no more impres- sively made had it cost ten times that amount. It would be impossible to suggest actors who could better the performances of the various members of the cast which has been assembled to impersonate the roles of these fa- miliar characters who have thrilled thousands either through the printed Dage or in the Edward Rose stage ver- sion. Lewis Stone gives a flawless per- formance of the dual role of Rassen- dyll and King Rudolph. Alice Terry is a most charming and regal Princess Flavia. Robert Edeson is an ideal Colonel Sapt and Stuart Holmes and Ramon Navarro as Black Michael and Rupert of Hentzau are the perfect vil- lains of your imagination. Others who give splendid performances are Barbara La Marr, Malcolm McGregor, Edward Connelly and Lois Lee. The photography which is of rare beauty, is by John F. Seitz. Horace J.
