New Trier Debate Teams Win Against Deerfield New Trier High school debaters won both the affirmative and negative argu- ments with Deerfield-Shields High school last Saturday on the question, "Resolved, that the Philippines should be granted complete independence within a period of two years." Cabray Wortley, Robert Koretz and Caroline Roberts comprised the affirm- ative team, while Dwight Chapman, Walter Hughes and Lourie Meyering championed the negative. Friday, April 6, the teams debate Morton High school. Horace Mann Radio Club Will Hold Competitions Radio is making a hit in the Horace Mann school. Boys of the sixth grade have organized a Radio club and are devoting their manual train- ing periods to the building of radio cabipets and sets. As soon as the outfits are done a competition will be held to determine the owner of the most efficient set. The winner will be given a chance to demonstrate his radio before the Horace Mann assembly. NOTICE VILLAGE OF WINNETKA BOARD OF APPEALS NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of' Appeals of the Village of Winnetka has recommended to the Council of the Village of Winnetka for passage, an ordinance providing for the amendment of the Zoning Ordin- ance of the Village of Winnetka. A public hearing for the consideration of such proposed amendment of the said Zoning Ordinance will be held by the said Board of Appeals in the Council Chamber of the Village Hall, Win- netka, Illinois, on the 16th day of April, A. D. 1923, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. The said Ordinance providing for an amendment of the said Zoning Ordin- ance of the Village of Winnetka is as follows, to-wit: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION EIGHTEEN OF AN ORDINANCE OF THE VIL- LAGE OF WINNETKA, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE SEVEN- TEENTH DAY OF JANUARY, A. D. 1922, AND ENTITLED: 'AN ORDIN- ANCE TO CLASSIFY, REGULATE AND RESTRICT THE LOCATION OF TRADES AND INDUSTRIES AND THE LOCATION OF BUILD- INGS DESIGNED FOR SPECIFIC USES, AND TO REGULATE AND LIMIT THE HEIGHT AND BULK OF BUILDINGS HEREAFTER ERECTED, TO REGULATE AND LIMIT THE INTENSITY OF THE USE OF LOT AREAS AND TO REG- ULATE AND DETERMINE THE AREA OF YARDS, COURTS AND OTHER OPEN SPACES WITHIN AND SURROUNDING SUCH BUILD- INGS AND TO ESTABLISH THE BOUNDARIES OF DISTRICTS FOR THE SAID PURPOSES AND PRE- SCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF ITS PROVISIONS. SECTION 3. That the Council of the Village of Winnetka reserves the right, pursuant to statute, to reject by a ma- {ouity vote of such Council any or all S. SECTION 4. That a copy of this or- dinance, together with a notice state ing that bids for the purchase of the real estate providedtobe sold in Section 1 of this ordinance shall be published in the Winnetka Weekly Talk, a news- paper published regularly in said Vil- lage on Saturday of each week, for a period of not less than sixty days after the taking effect of this ordinance, and that such notice shall state that all bids for such real estate shall be de- livered to the Village Clerk on or be fore eight o'clock P. M. at a regular meeting of the Council of said ViHage to be held on the first day of May, A. D. 1923, and that each bid for such real estate shall be accompanied by a certi- fled check, payable to the order of the Village of Winnetka, in the sum of ten (10) per cent of the amount of such bid. The President of the Village of Win- netka is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of said Village, a proper instrument of transfer convey- ing to the bidder whose bid shall be accepted by the Council of said Village and who shall duly pay the amount of the bid accepted by the Village of Win- netka, the real estate described in Sec- tion 1 of this ordinance, and the Vil- lage Clerk is hereby authorized to at- test such instrument of transfer and to attach thereto the corporate seal. SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by a vote of three-fourths of the members of the Council of the Village of Winnetka, its approval and posting. and that bids for the purchase of said property will be received by the Vil- lage Clerk, up to eight (8) o'clock P. M. May 1st, 1923, which bids will be duly opened and considered at the meeting of the said Council to be held May 1st, 1923, in the Village Hall of the Village of Winnetka, at eight o'clock P.M. All bids sent to the said Vil-~ lage Clerk shall be marked on the out- side "Bid for real estate". The said Council resreves the right, pursuant to statute to reject by majority vote any or all bids.
