WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 1923 BUCCANEERS T0 BOOST BOATING "Port of Missing Men" To Return to Wilmette Har- bor in a few Weeks FEATURE BOAT RACES Membership Roll of Club Al- most Complete The caravel "The Port of Missing Men," which has been missed from her mooring in the Wilmette harbor during the winter, will be brought back to her anchorage in a few weeks from her winter quarters in -South Chicago where she has been refitted, and the Buccaneers' club will go into commission on Decoration Day with suitable ceremonies. Small boat racing will be one of the features of the club's progress for the season and already a schedule of races has been arranged with the fleet of one design boats of the Chicago Yacht club and negotiations are now under way with the Saddle and Cycle club to arrange races between the Buccaneer Cat boats and the 15 Cat boats owned by Saddle and Cycle members which are of the same type. The House committee is planning to have full cafe service at the club during the Summer and no more delightful place can be found for luncheons, Bridge parties and dinners during the hot season. The House committee comprising Winnetka men, exclusively, Arthur €. Sullivan being chairman and assisted by Langdon Pearse, Harry Edmonds and Henry Stanton. AQUATIC MEET COMES MAY 12 High School Classic to Draw Big Crowd The biggest acquatic event of the year is the Fourth Annual Aquatic classic conducted by Coach Jackson in Lake New Trier Saturday, May 12. Both the boys and the girls swim- ming teams of the high school will take part. There will also be a Boat Regatta. High school students only are eligible to enter boats in this contest. The winner of these races will be given a silver cup. The program of the classic is al- ways more or less a mystery. New surprises arise each year and no num- ber is repeated. Rumor of a slide for life over Lake New Trier, some spec- tacular stunts by three "Aquators," and the reproduction of the hunting scene and the "Huntsmen Two" from the "Outrage" have been circulating around the campus. In past years this classic has had to hold an extra performance to ac- commodate the crowds. Only 200 tick- ets will be sold this year. Since the attendance is to be limited, it is pro- posed that patrons of the school pur- chase their tickets early. Waldemar Young has begun the adaptation of "Salomy Jane" from Paul Armstrong's play based on Bret Hart's story. This will be George Melford's next production, following "You Can't Fool Your Wife," now in production at the Long Island studio. "Salomy Jane" will be produced on the West Coast. Robert Wagner is preparing for his first effort as a Paramount director. Walter Hiers is to be the star. The story was written by Walter Woods, and Thomas J. Geraghty is making the adap- tation. Heirs has been given a typical role--that of a young fellow in a small town who is clerk, porter and bell hop of the "hotel."
