WINNETKA, WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 1923 Fanelma Schulmeyer W. Harlan Ware The North Shore Players have re- hearsed diligently to make their pro- duction of "Jane Clegg"--the last play of the season--the biggest success of their careers. The cast has been se- lected with great care by Director Jessie Royce Landis, as indicated in the accompanying brief review of the characters. Benn F. Carswell, who is known to all the patrons of the North Shore Players as being the Players' best heavy, will enact the part of "Henry Clegg." Mr. Carswell was seen last as the detective from Scotland Yards in "Three Live Ghosts." "Mr. Munce," the race horse broker, will be played by Harlan Ware. Mr. Ware was one of the original organiz- ers of the North Shore Players and has been in practically every one of their productions since the inception of the organization. "Mr. Morrison" will be played by Hawley Mertz, whose first appearance on the North Shore was in "Three Live Ghosts." In that production he proved to be an agreeable surprise to all who witnessed it. His work in "Jane Clegg" is of a different type. Miss Fanelma Schulmeyer, who is considered by many as a girl genius, since her portrayal of "Old Sweet- M. Hawley Mertz Benn F. Carswell of "Mrs. mother-in- law.. The remaining two parts in the play are two children, "Jenny' and "John- nie." The part of "Jenny" will be played by Ruth Buschnell, who has achieved some fame already as a dramatic reader. That of "Johnnie" will be played by Gordon Delay, who, while new to North Shore audiences, will be one of the outstanding surprises of the per- formance. The performance will be given at the Jane Kuppenheimer Memorial Hall, Skokie school, on Monday, June 4, and again at the New Trier Town- ship High school auditorium on June 6. This play is being given under the auspices of the Winnetka American Legion.
