The star takes a new role in the stage-struck country girl who has her own ideas as to what Broadway pro- ductions need to spell success. The story was written especially for Miss Talmadge by John Emerson and Anita Loos and affords excellent oppor- tunities for her to display the particular kind of acting to which she is adapted. The humor is contagious and the plot has strong dramatic values. Polly Meacham is an ambitious coun- try girl who wants to grace the foot- lights, but her Uncle Silas has different ideas about woman's..place. He breaks up an amateur theatrical show Polly gives in the home town and almost ruins her plans to go on the stage. Despite his opposition, Polly carries out her intentions by winning a place in Flo Ziegfeld's Beauty Chorus. The conclusion is unique as well as amazing. It differs from the ordinary fate of stage-struck country girls and is said to be one of the most unusual finishes the star has had. Kenneth Har- lan is again seen in the role of lead- ing man. Expect High Marks In School Athletic Tests Final announcement of the results of the athletic proficiency tests con- ducted at the Skokie school under the direction of the physical director, were to have been made at the grad- uation exercises Thursday night. Practically every child in the school was entered in the test, and each tried to make the coveted mark of 100 per cent. Although there are no perfect scores, most of the children have ranked well, it was announced Wednesday.
