The expense of Winnetka's Com- munity Fourth of July celebration is borne, in great part, by the citizens of the village. A novel plan for collecting the fund, inaugurated by village author- ities several years ago, makes it pos- sible for every household to contribute its share hy enclosing two dollars with the monthly water and light remittance for June. This plan makes the Fourth of July celebration a gen- uine community affair in that the burden of expenses is distributed equally throughout the village. Water Sports Bring Out Host of Local Natators Thomas Gonser, Fred Priestman and P. Griffith, promise some thrillers in the Fourth of July water sports to be conducted at Lake Front Park beach beginning at 11:30 A. M. Events will include all the cus- tomary swimming stunts for boys and girls and, as usual, hundreds of Win- netka's youthful natators are ex- pected to enter the competitions and vie for the prizes. Match Play is Golfing Feature of 4th Program Golfing events in connection with the Winnetka Fourth of July cele- bration begin 8:30 o'clock in the Play- field links with a Match play against par. Flynn and Son Groomed For Father-Son Race Theodore Flynn and Son, is not, as you may suspect, the name of a local business , concern. It is, rather, a combination that has been capturing first honors in recent Fourth of July father and son races. It has been virtually a foregone conclusion in past Fourth of July field events that Flynn and Son would take that race. Maybe they'll repeat this year, and then again, there may be a dark horse combination, a 100 to 1 entry is it were.
