WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 30, 1923 DODGE SALES - CRASH RECORDS Reports for This Year Show Remarkable Work Since January Dodge Brothers dealers have consistently broken all previous records for delivery of cars to cus- tomers, according to William T. Wersted, north shore dealer. Since April 1, de- liveries to customers have averaged more than 5,000 cars per week. This is without taking into account sales in foreign countries. Materially increased production in 1923 has made this per- formance possible. For the first quarter in 1923 retail deliveries to customers were in excess of any quarter in the history of the business--even including the peak periods of 1919-1920. Following this, deliveries for April exceeded any previous month of the first quarter and delivery figures for each week in April exceeded the totals of the preceding week--each week creating a new high record. May main- tained the pace established in April. June should be better than May. Dodge Brothers are able to compile this sales information because of the co- operation of each of their dealers throughout the entire United States and Canada in sending in a weekly report of all retail deliveries made to cus- tomers. Through these reports they have an accurate, detailed record of exact conditions existing in each sales territory. Their calculations are based upon the number of cars actually con- sumed by the public, as they believe this to be the only true indication of con- ditions. The constantly climbing delivery rec- ords coupled with increasing production, lead Dodge Brothers to believe that the last six months of 1923 added to the record breaking first six months will total by far the greatest year in the history of their business. THIS IS OUR 36TH JULY ATH PROGRAM There is a certain significance in the announcement that next Wednesday's Fourth of July celebration marks the thirty-sixth observance of its kind in the community life of Winnetka. There have. been thirty-five Fourth of July celebrations in Winnetka, a fact that is pleasant to contemplate. Each year leaders of the village get together to plan a great celebration of community-wide interest which people all ages may enjoy. They arrange splendid patriotic pro- grams, but in their planning for the day do not forget that recreation is a vital adjunct of happy community ilfe. The program contains many features, all of which are distinctly valuable in them- selves. Speeches, readings and songs, band concerts, flag parades, games and contests, mingled so as to provide a day of wholesome and happy activity in which the dominating fact that the Fourth of July is our national birthday, cannot escape the thoughtful mind.
