| { | | |} WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 1923 | Neigh borhood Theatres but indications point to the certainty that it will be accorded an enthusi- astic reception by both young and old. | Hoyburn Theatre An eventful week is promised patrons of the Hoyburn theatre beginning with the program on Monday, August 20. : "Brass," photodramatic interpretation of Norris' celebrated novel of that title, is to be the Hoyburn attraction on Mon- day, Tuesday and Wednesday. "Brass" is characterized as "a throbbing drama on marriage, which will grip the interest of every human being." The story asks the oft-propounded question of modern times: "Is your wedding ring brass?" The cast of "Brass" includes such out- standing stars as Monte Blue, Irene Rich, Margaret Seddon, Marie Prevost, Harry Myers and little Bruce Gueri who is heralded as the new wonder boy of the films. Sydney Franklin directed the photodrama. "] am the Law," is booked for the Hoyburn on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 23, 24 and 25. "A stirring and romantic tale of the frozen Yukon Trail, involving the eternal triangle of two men and a woman," is the manner in which critics have de- scribed this cinema triumph. In the cast are Alice Lake, Kenneth Harlan, Gaston Glass, Rosemary Theby, Noah Beery, Wallace Beery and others. Edwin Carewe is the director. Stanley Wallace has intrenched him- self in the esteem of Hoyburn playgoers by virtue of his excellent work at the organ. He is prepared at any time to play the favorite selections of his audi- tors. He also likes to have them take part in singing the popular songs he plays. r-- | Howard Theatre HOWARD THEATRE--1 col box An excellent film bearing the title, "Scars of "Jealousy," and having in its cast such remarkable talent as Frank Keenan, Marguerite De La Motte, Lloyd Hughes and Edward Burns, will be seen at the Howard Friday and Saturday of this week. "Scars of Jealousy" has to do with the celebrated "Cajans" of the Gulf country. It is a thrilling romance of the southland. Buster Keaton in "Day Dreams" is the comedy attraction for those days. Elliott Dexter is the star in the photo- dramatic interpretation of James Whit- comb Riley's famous poem, "An Old Sweetheart of Mine," which is to be shown at the Howard on Sunday, Au- gust 19. . g "Where the Pavement Ends" is the Howard booking for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Alice Terry and Ramon Novarro head an all- star cast in this production. Howard music is always of the very best.
