Sperling, of Kenil- worth, a veteran of the Spanish-Ameri- can and the World Wars, has been ap- pointed a lieutenant colonel of infantry in the reserve corps by President Cool- idge. Col. Sperling served in Cuba with the First Regiment and received a commission as captain at the first of- ficers' training camp at Fort Sheridan. He commanded a battalion in the 86th division overseas, part of the time with the Third Army corps in Germany and received the rank of Major upon his return, --O-- Mr. F. E. M.
