D. Cunningham, north shore Ford dealer. The higher radiator, now standard in all Ford types, has brought a general improvement throughout the entire line and the new radiator apron blending with similar apron effects on the fenders gives the front of the cars a highly finished appearance. The touring car shows a decided im- provement having a more streamline ef- fect. It is lower in appearance, a fea- ture adding much to the attractiveness of the slanting windshield and one-man top. The Ford runabout is likewise much improved and looks more sturdy. The Coupe is entirely new in body design and construction. There is a more trim extekior appearance, more com- fortable seating arrangement and greater luggage capacity. From the dash there is a graceful sweep in the cowl to the radiator. The doors are wide and heavily framed. A larger compartment at the rear gives increased room for luggage and the new type rear fender is more secure. Ventilator in the cowl and a visor over the windshield add to the exterior appearance, effecting a high quality aspect. Interior Convenient Interior arrangement is most convenient and the upholstery is choice. ROADSTER FOR 2 STILL FAVORITE The smart, spirited roadster, built for two, or a companionable three, continues to lure a substantial proportion of motor car enthusiasts, despite the undeniable and increasing preference for closed models evident in recent years. This statement is based upon the re- ception accorded the Stutz Six roadster, numbered among the latest contributions to motoring utility and fashion, recently announced by the Stutz Motor Car com- pany of America, Inc. Simultaneously with the appearance of this model in Stutz distributing cen- ters, an immediate and active response in the form of positive buying orders from a large and varied class of motor car users became evident, Stutz officials state. The primary appeal of the Stutz Six roadster, it has been determined, is to business and professional men who desire a high grade, economical car for their exclusive, personal transportation. Also, it has a large following among small families who value it as an ideal tour- ing and sport conveyance. The low, graceful lines of the car carry especial appeal to those who are influ- enced by exterior attractiveness, imparted through coach work of unusual distinct- iveness and refinement. Contributing to the unique style effect achieved are the long, sweeping afterdeck, jaunty top, and extra wire wheels, mounted alongside the hood. Irresistible as well is the surpassing comfort and inviting "feel" of the car, with the occupants suspended close to the ground amidships of the axles. Rand Road Now Opened From Des Plaines North Rand road is now paved and open all the way from Des Plaines northwest to Volo, work about Lake Zurich baving been completed. This road too is being paved north of Volo and into Fox lake. It is called the "Lakes" road now and next season will be one of the most popular drives in the Chicago district. Farther north the new paving on the Grand avenue road will be completed and the road open from Waukegan through Gurnee, Lake Villa, and Antioch to the state line before September 15, according to the state engineer. Parts of this artery have been in use all this season, but the road has been badly cut up by detours. 1924 LEXINGTON NOW ON DISPLAY A new motor sales firm to represent Lexington, Jordan and Monroe cars on the north shore has opened its doors for business in Evanston promising rapidly to become one of the leaders ainong con- cerns of its kind in this territory. 'The new sales and service station goes by the name of Thompson & Schuler, and is headed by H. A. Thompson and H. A. Schuler, both of whom are well known in north shore automobile circles. Mr. Thompson continues to handle the Jordan car at the salesroom at 1522 Sherman avenue. Mr. Schuler known as the promoter of the annual North Shore Motor salon, has moved in Fvanston motor circles since the antomobile sales business was in its infancy. The salesroom at 10038 Davis street, formerly occupied by the Evanston branch of the Lexington-Chicago com- pany, has been a scene of great activity during the past week, while arrange- ments for the display of new Lexington and Monroe 1924 models have been go- ing forward. Thompson & Schuler en- joy the distinction of being amcng the first dealers in the couatry to secure these new lines of cars. "The Lexington plant is a wonder," said Mr. Schuler yesterday on his re- turn from Connersville and Indianapolis, where in company with Mr. Thompson he visited both the Lexington and Mon- roe factories. "Lexington builds prac- tically every unit under its roof. The plant seems to spread over the entire industrial section of the town. The Ansted motor shops are pronounced by engineers as without a superior. "The Monroe factories at Indianapolis are the largest in the state of Indiana, comprising the government Four Wheel Drive plant, built during the war, the old Premier headquarters and the former home of the old Monroe. The produc- tion facilities are enormous." Thompson and Schuler announce the inauguration of a novel and advanta- geous service systera for North Shore owners of Lexington, Jordan and Mon- roe cars, including oiling, greasing, and adjustment, together with a written re- port on the condition of every part of the car.
