"1 , #5 WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1923 COOLIDGE LAUDS SCOUT PROGRAM Accepts Honorary Presidency of Organization Mentioning the interesting fact that his own two sons are scouts, and that the benefits they have derived from the program has strengthened his conviction of the organization's usefulness, President Coolidge has ac- cepted the honorary presidency of the Boy Scouts of America in the fol- lowing letter addressed to Colin H. Livingstone, president of the organiza- tion : My Dear Mr. Livingstone: You may be assured of my readi- ness to accept the honor of the Presidency of the Boy Scouts of America, as other Presidents have done from the organization of the Scouts. I esteem this post as one of the incidental duties of a Presi- dent, and likewise one of the most agreeable among them. I have al- ways been deeply interested in the - work of the Scouts, which I regard as an ideal mode of citizenship development and character construc- tion. Both my sons are scouts, and my observation of the benefits they have derived from their affiliation has strengthened my conviction of the organization's usefulness. I shall be glad to render any proper service I can to the organization at any time. Most sincerely yours, (Signed) CALVIN COOLIDGE. Mr. Coolidge is the fourth Presi- dent to become Honorary President of this Movement; ex-Presidents Wil- son and Taft are honorary vice-pres- idents. There is every indication in the attitude of President Coolidge that he will continue the late presi- dent Harding's policy of intimate en- thusiastic participation in all efforts to extend the work of the Boy Scouts movement, RAZOR BLADES Sharpened Mail us your old dull safety razor blades.
