WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1923 Watch Out for This Fellow-- Realtor Warns "Watch out for the Chicago fellow who wants to recoat your gravel roof or re- shingle your home, the prices are cheap, but the work is cheaper." That is the warning sounded by a local real estate man to the property owners of the north shore. It is said that a certain person is get- ting contracts in this vicinity to do gen- eral repair work on houses with a writ- ten guarantee of complete satisfaction but when the work is done, the contractor is gone and there is no one to receive the complaints. One property owner reports the roof of his home was repaired and a concrete base made for the chimney but all that was ever done was the driving of a handful of nails in the root and some kind of a subsitute used for the con- crete which washed away with the rain. According to the real estate concern, "the whole thing is a 'skin-flint' game oper- ated by unlicensed grafters." Radio Shop Our Latest Addition to Elm Street Winnetka has a new radio service shop. C. H. Affeldt opened the store at 18 Prouty Annex last Saturday and is prepared to handle complete radio sets as well as equipment for 'all types of sets, ranging from the 'crystal variety to the most expensive outfits. An excellent radio set has been in- stalled in the shop and Mr. Affeldt announces concerts will be held every evening. Persons interested in radio are invited to visit the shop at any time and secure information without charge. Mr. Affeldt has been in the business of constructing radio sets for some time and is considered thoroughly ex- pert in his line.
