Tubes and Special colors day Delivery Plan While the Saturday half-holiday for Winnetka mail carriers has won what amounts to a virtual unanimous approval with the residents of the village, Post- master Adams comes forth with the statement to the effect that there may be some misunderstanding regarding that question, : In announcing that the poll taken by the carriers indicates that 1142 residents had favored the half-holiday while but one person voted against the plan, Post- master Adams says: "There seems to be some misunder- standing regarding the question of half- holiday on Saturday for the mail car- riers, vote on which is being taken this week, and from the tabulation of the votes received at this time will be prac- tically unanimous in favor of the plan. "My ruling on this proposition will be that one complete delivery will be made of all mail received up to and including Saturday morning. "Carriers will be required to case all mail in the office on their return from this trip so that anyone expecting any important mail may have same by call- ing at the office. "There is considerable complaint of deliveries being late and only one de- livery daily. "This is due to conditions over which we have no control. Facchini, Winnetka garage owner, is soon to receive an appointment as_special deputy sheriff of Cook county from Peter M. Hoffman, sheriff. The appointment is to come as the result of a letter of recommendation received from village president, John S. Miller, Jr, it is stated. The office of special deputy sheriff carries with it no re- muneration. on this trip there is nct much left for an afternoon delivery, and if the carrier has no mail for 9 out of 10 stops it is not reasonable to expect him to make two deliveries.
