The principal dedicatory address was given by Rev. Herman W. Meyer, pas- tor of the church, whose guiding hand and exceptional ability at organization, together with a peculiar faculty for "getting things done," and coupled with the tireless energy of a Building com- mittee, were largely responsible for the establishment of the beautiful new church plant. Rev. Meyer spoke at the morning service of dedication. In the afternoon and evening therel|_ were other services of dedication and consecration at which leading divines of the Lutheran denomination were the principal speakers. Special soloists and the Lutheran double quartet of the Chi- cago district provided the programs of music. Especially gratifying during the dedi- catory services was a communication from the Wilmette church council, (comprising the Protestant churches of the village and of which St. John's church is a member,) which tendered its congratulations upon the remark- able achievement of the local parish in securing such a beautiful church home, regarding the dedication as one of the outstanding events in the religious life of the community. Leading ministers who spoke at the dedicatory services were Rev. F. W. G. Mueller, a former pastor of the local church; Rev. Paul Luecke, Rev. K. G. Schlerf and Rev. F. H. Kretzschmar, also a former pastor of the congrega- tion. Soloists who, with the quartet, gave a brilliant program, included Mrs. T. C. Doering, Mrs. A. J. Brockmann and Orian Galitz.
