The story is built around the aspira- tions of two lawyers 'who are ambitious to achieve the Red Robe, the highest honor accorded a man in the judicial system of France. It reeks with in- trigue and permits Monsieur Brieux, who, -incidently, is the author. of "Dam- aged Goods," full sway to employ "every weapon in his armory of satire." Mr. Smith has been seen in previous Theatre Guild productions, including "Twelve Hundred" and "Dear Brutus." Mrs. Cates, will be remembered for her remarkable portrayal of the title role in "Jeanne d'Arc." GIRLS ARE TOLD OF THE Y. W. C. A. FOYER The Upper school girls of the North Shore Country Day school heard an interesting talk Wednesday of this week by Miss Paulina Sage of the Y. W. C. A. Foyer located near the University of Chicago. Miss Sage, with many illustrative details, explained the work of the Foy- er as a club for foreign students of the university, where Japanese, Chin- ese, Russians, Mexicans and repre- sentatives of many other nations are mutually benefitted by a thorough un- derstanding of each other's good quali- ties, secured through the medium of the establishment of true friendships. The club, she said, provides sleeping rooms where foreign girl students may remain until they secure permanent and satisfactory quarters, but its most important mission is to bring these girls in contact with the best that American culture and the broadening influence of college social life can pro- vide. Miss Sage described an average day at the Foyer, one that to the north shore girls seemed filled with unusual experiences. She also read several letters of appreciation penned by girls who had been helped by the Foyer.
