[ay on Hh WN Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to acquire, by purchase, condemna- tion, or otherwise, a suitable site in Winnetka, Illinois, and 6 to cause to be erected thereon a suitable building, with fire- 7 proof vaults, heating and ventilating apparatus, and ap- 8 proaches, complete, for the accommodation of the post office, 9 at a total limit of cost, including site, of $150,000. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE APPEALS TO CITIZENS (Continued from page 1) is one of the suburbs of Chicago which is doubling its population each decade. And WHEREAS, the Village of Win- netka recently adopted a Zoning Or- dinance restricting the erection of esignated portions of the munici- pality, and has also approved a Vil- lage Plan, including provisions for the control and betterment of the central and more public parts of the village. And WHEREAS, because of the adop- tion of the aforesaid Zoning Ordi- nance and said Village Plan there has been a great increase in the erec- tion of business buildings in the vil- lage, and steps are being taken to do away with old and unsightly struc- tures and to replace them with those which will be both architecturally beautiful and at the same time well adapted for modern use. And WHEREAS, a new Village Hall is to be erected soon on a site which has been especially prepared for this pur- pose, and a fine new Masonic Temple has been built near the center of business district, and a new school house has been built and another planned. And WHEREAS, because of the above described . building activities it will soon become difficult to secure a fit 5 a proper Post ce Building in the village.
