EE WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 1924 Facts of Interest to Winnetka Voters 1 "Phone 4 PLAN TO GET OUT THE VOTE OF WINNETKA To awaken a genuine spirit of re- sponse among the women of Winnetka who have not heretofore been availing themselves of the privilege to vote, and to aid the Winnetka league in reach- ing its goal to increase the vote to 75 per cent, the following plan for getting out the vote has been prepared. _ Winnetka has officially been divided into 8 precincts or election districts. The league has appointed a Chairman over each of these 8 precincts. The precincts have then been subdivided into 4 smaller districts with a Sub-chairman at the head of each district. These Sub-chairmen assisted by Block Cap- tains wil distribute election calendars and printed matter regarding the plat- forms and qualifications of all candi- dates, and they have also been asked to arrange informal group meetings in their particular districts for the discus- sion of the political issues involved and to assist the women of Winnetka in becoming more intelligent in voting. The league will provide competent speakers for these meetings who will cover the following points: Qualifications of a voter; naturalization of aliens; regis- tration and making of affidavits; import- ance of the primary; marking of bal- lots and cumulative system of voting. In this connection the league wishes to emphasize that any group of women regardless of number, who may desire information about the business of vot- ing, etc., can have a speaker meet with them by calling Miss Elizabeth Gem- mell, president of the Winnetka league, Winnetka 321, or Mrs. Walter I. Ben- son, chairman of the Elections com- mittee, Winnetka 429. Calendar of Elections. Winnetka League of Women Voters. A REMINDER Registrations October 14, Tuesday-- General Regis- tration.
