On June 17, another recital, the last of the season, will be given at the Winnetka Woman's club. ER Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Signe Quarn- strom, of Hubbard Woods, and Jaakko Mikkola, of Helsingsfors, Finland. Mr. Mikkola is at present coaching Finland's Olympic team for the Paris games, at the close of which the wed- ding will take place. Mr. Mikkola and his bride, after a wedding trip on the continent, will make their home in Boston, where he will resume his posi- tion as coach of javelin and discus at Harvard. Miss Quarnstrom has been connected with New Trier high school for several years. --Q-- At a luncheon given recently, the engagement of Miss Helen Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Thompson, of Wilmette, to E. Stanley Wisdom, of Winnetka, was announced. --_--Q-- Miss Callette Anderson, 178 Myrtle street, has been elected president of the vacational garden committee at Northwestern university. She has also been made a member of the ex- ecutive board of the Woman's Self Government association. . Mrs. William Schmedtgen, of Wil- mette, plans to go east the last of next week to attend the commencement festivities at Wellesley college. Her daughter, Miss Dorothea, who is vice president of the senior class, is chair- man of the Tree Day committee. ---- The wedding of Miss Phyllis Small and Merle C.
