Prior to this week, the en- tertaining for Miss Mordock was a linen shower, given by Miss Blatch- ford, a luncheon at Skokie, given by Miss Virginia Lewis, followed by a kitchen shower, with Miss Margaret Mercer the hostess, a picnic lunch- eon, given by Miss Alice deWindt, a bridge and shower, given by Mrs. Earle McCarthy, and a luncheon, with Miss Eloise ReQua the hostess. During this week, Miss Mordock was guest of honor at a supper dance given by Mr. and Mrs. William Nicholls and Miss Barbara Nicholls at the Drake on Tuesday evening. Miss Christine Baumann gave a breakfast and shower on Wednesday which was followed by a bridge given by Mrs. Bulkley and Miss Katherine Bulkley. That 'ame evening, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Clark entertained at dinner at their home. On Thursday evening, Mrs. Edwin F. Bayley, Miss Mordock's grandmother, was hostess at dinner for the bridal party at Indian Hill club, preceeding the dance which Mr. and Mrs. N. Landon Hoyt and Miss Josephine are giving at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Mordock gave the bridal dinner at their home on Friday evening. Attending Miss Mordock and Mr. Adams at the service which will be read by the Rev. James A. Richards at the Congregational church at 5 o'clock, are Miss Barbara Nicholls, maid of honor, Miss Josephine Hoyt, Miss Katherine Bulkley, Miss Eloise ReQua and Mrs. Earl R. McCarthy, Bridesmaids; Sidney Adams will be best man, and Robert O. Clark, John B. Mordock, Thomas H. Adams, Robert Breakey and Earl R. McCarthy, the ushers. Mr. and Mrs. Mordock are having a small reception at their home on Maple avenue immediately following the ceremony. Delightful Garden Setting for Benefit Bridge HE lovely gardens of the adjoining estates of Mrs. Frederick H. Scott and Mrs. Robert Cluett will be a most attractive feature of the bridge and mah jongg benefit for Grove House for Convalescents to be given by the Winnetka board on Tuesday, July 15, under the direction of Mrs. Hathaway Watson, president of the Grove House board, and a committee composed of the following members of the Winnetka board: Mrs. James L. Houghteling, Jr. Mrs. Heyliger deWindt, Mrs. Ralph Hobart, Mrs. Frederick H. Scott, Mrs. Calvin Fentress, Mrs. Cuthbert C. Adams, Mrs. Arthur Tuttle, Mrs. John Stuart and Mrs. Merritt Starr. Anyone wishing to have a table may apply to any member of the committee. The Chicago, Evanston and Lake Forest boards, which compose Z| the Grove House board, are planning benefit affairs throughout the summer. Mrs. Lesley Wheeler heads the Lake Forest committee which is also giving a benefit about the middle of July. Sidney Greeley Engaged to an Eastern Girl R. and Mrs. W. F. Stiles of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Annette, to Sidney F. Greeley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris L. Greeley, 655 Maple avenue. The definite date has not been set for the wedding which will take place in the fall. Miss Stiles is a graduate of Bryn Mawr, and Mr. Greeley, of Yale. Miss Elizabeth Greeley is at present visiting Miss Stiles at Mattatoisett, Massachusetts. News has been received of the ar- rival in London of Mrs. Rudolph Matz, Miss Ruth Matz, and Miss Louise Otis. In their three months' trip abroad, the time will be divided between England, France and Switzer- land. After their stay in London they will motor through the cathedral towns and lake region. In France, they will tour the chateau country in the same way. --_--O-- Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lathrop, 826 Humboldt avenue, have as their guest, Marion Toole. Mr. Toole has lately shipped with the U. S. S. Blackhawk, which was one of the first ships to arrive in Japan with relief supplies, in the time of the Japan earthquake. Mr. Toole has been in the United States navy for many years. Hibbard left Win- netka on Monday for an ocean trip which will include a visit to Norway, to the Land of the Midnight Sun. On her return, she will stop in Eng- land for about ten days. She is ex- pected home about the middle of August. On Mrs. William Carlisle of New York, formerly a Winnetka resident, who has been visiting friends in the vil- lage, is at present the guest of Mrs. Edwin Keeler, 631 Walden road. Mr. Carlisle is ill at the Evanston hos- pital. -- Mrs. Ernst von Ammon returned last week to her home on Elder lane, after a fortnight in the east. In July the von Ammons are planning to spend several weeks it Elkhart Lake, Wis- consin. eran Mrs. Harry Gillete of Cleveland, and Mrs. Paul Simonds of Kansas City, are the house-guests of Mrs. Tohn C. Cobb, 615 Elm street. Mrs. Simonds is returning to her home after attending her son's graduation at Yale. --O-- Louise and Herman Lackner, 339 T.inden avenue, will leave shortly for Gulich camp, Maine. Frances Lack- ner is going to Camp Kinnio, Maine. All three children will be away all summer. ---- Mrs. Henry Solomon has just re- turned from a ten months' trip around the world. At present she is with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Solomon, 1337 Asbury avenue. --_--Q-- The James Porters of Hubbard Woods are spending the summer in Europe. ANY
