- WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 1924 13 Kindergarten- BE lementary College to Present Program HE Woman's club of Evanston an- nounces a program of unusual in- terest for members and friends for the afternoon of Tuesday, July 1, at 3 o'clock. This, which is the second of the informal summer programs, will |24 be a Children's Afternoon, presented by graduates of the National Kinder- garten and Elementary college. Miss Grace Hemingway of Oak Mrs. Harry G. Phillips Park, story teller of wide reputation, will tell stories in costume. Miss Lillian Lyman of Evanston will entertain with her French Doll Dance and the Dance of the Court Jester. Miss Nellie Ball of Chicago, remem- bered as the Queen of Summer in the Pageant of the Seasons recently pre- sented by the students of the college at the Evanston Country club, and also as one of the Toy Carnival min- strels, will contribute appropriate songs. She hopes to bring with her a few of her minstrels who have not traveled too far for the summer to be recalled for this event. Patriotic music and a flag parade led by Raymond Brookley as Uncle Sam and by Margaret Pease, who will impersonate Columbia, bring the pre- gram to a close and lead the young guests to the lawn where refreshments will be served. Mrs. Harry G. Phillips, also a grad- uate of the college, and very active in the North Shore Alumnae associa- tion, is hostess for the afternoon, as- sisted by Mrs. Rollin Pease and Mrs. James Roy Skiles. ---- Mrs. Charlotte Hill, who has been visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold D. Hill, 801 Walden road, will leave in a fortnight to visit her sister in Ohio. Mrs. Hill returned from the south about two weeks ago. ---- V Edward Bertha of Chicago are occupying the Elting residence at 830 Mount Pleasant road, Mr. and Mrs. while the Eltings are in their summer : home at Huron Mountain, Michigan. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Alschuler, 795 Lincoln avenue, and their three chil- dren, Marion, Frances and Alfred, are leaving Winnetka today for a two months' trip abroad. --O-- Mrs. Frederick Dickinson, 1228 Scott avenue, has as her guest, Mrs. Grace T. Jay of Los Angeles. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Noe are now occupying their new home at 1432 As- bury avenue. The morning study class in garden- ing of the North Shore Garden club, under the direction of Professor H. B. Dorner of the University of Illinois, met at the residence of Mrs. Julius Rosenwald, Tuesday morning, June A new department of the club has been made in the formation of a com- munity service committee. There is a great need of vegetables and fruit at Sunset camp. The work of the community service committee will be to arrange for the collection of all such garden surplus from members of the club. Mrs. Arthur Byfield, 843 South Linden avenue, Highland Park, is the chairman, with Mrs. E. Lilien- field, chairman for Evanston and Wil- mette, Mrs. M. Spiegel, Kenilworth: Mrs. S. S. Stein, Winnetka and Hub- bard Woods; Mrs. D. Mayer, Glencoe : Mrs. H. Meyer, Ravinia and Highland Park, and Mrs. J. Kuppenheimer for Lake Forest. --Q-- Mrs. Julius L. Gutmann, 1142 Jud- son avenue, Evanston, will be hostess Monday afternoon, June 30, for the National Kindergarten and FElemen- tary college alumnae and friends This will be the fourth meeting of a series being held each Monday through the summer. The object of these gather- ings is the preparation of articles to he sold in the College Corner at the Courtesy Shoppe, 508 Davis street, Fv- anston. This is one way in which thsi group is swelling the college building fund. ---- Mrs. Herman B. Butler of 715 Prospect avenue has just returned from the east where she had been visiting for about ten days. Mrs. Butler attended the commencement of her son, Stuyvesant, who was grad- uated from Yale and is expected home in about two weeks to spend the sum- mer. --O-- The Rosewood and Scott avenue circles will entertain the children and mothers of the Chicago Commons Monday afternoon at the Winnetka beach. If the weather is unpleasant, the party will be held at the Com- munity House. Mrs. Marcus Rich- ards is chairman of the arrangements. --Q-- Dean and Mrs. Peter C. Lutkin of Evanston have left for their cottage, "Red Crest," Northport Point, Mich- igan, to spend the summer. Dean Lut- kin who is head of the Northwestern University School of Music will have charge of the music courses at an Epis- copal Church conference at Hillsdale, Michigan, from July 7 to 17. ---- Miss Willa Hamm, 270 Scott avenue Miss Ruth Livingston, formerly of Hubbard Woods, and Miss Patricia Taylor, will leave shortly as councilors for. the camp at Watervliet, Michigan. They expect to be gone five weeks. --Q-- Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Vollman, 803 Cherry street, entertained at dinner on Sunday, for eighteen guests.
