(SEAL) Joy Commission expires Nov. 16th, T17-1te LOCAL GIRL TO ATTEND LASELL Mary Mack Enrolled in Fam- ous Girls' Seminary Miss Mary Mack, of 707 Central avenue, Wilmette, has made applica- tion for enrollment as a student for the 1924-25 term at Lasell seminary for young women at Auburndale, Mas- sachusetts., according to Dr. Guy Monroe Winslow, president of the in- stitution. Miss Maude A. Herrick, Shelbyville; Miss Jessie Matteson, Chicago; Miss Elizabeth Saxton, Chicago; Miss Charlotte E. Ingwersen, Chicago; Miss Kathryn Moore, Chicago; Miss Char- lotte Young, Chicago; Miss Ruth R. Voltz, Chicago; Miss Eva May Mor- timer, Evanston, are the Illinois girls who have applied for enrollment at Lasell thus far for the next term. Several of these girls were students at Lasell during the 1923-24 term. A party of Lasell students will spend the summer at Camp Teconnet, sit- uated in China Lake, China, Me., eight miles south of Waterville and seven- teen miles from Augusta. The camp occupies the entire six acres of the Island of Teconnet and opened July 1 and will close August 31. The camp is under the personal supervision of Mrs. Charles F. Towne, an instructor at Lasell. Miss Mack will have an opportunity to attend the camp next summer. Miss Mack will have the advan- tages of making the annual excursions to the White Mountains in mid-win- ter and to Washington during the spring recess. In 1922 President Cal- vin Coolidge, then vice president, re- ceived the students at Washington and he was made an honorary member of the 1922 class. Lasell seminary was founded in 1851 by Professor Edward Lasell, of Wil- liams college, as a school of first rank for girls. In the reconstruction days after the Civil war it was directed by Dr. Charles W. Cushing. In 1878 Dr. Charles C. Bragdon began his successful principalship of thirty-four years and Dr. Winslow followed. Dr. Winslow is a pioneer as an educator and believes that a young woman like her brother needs training for her life work. \
