Goodnow, electrical en- gineer of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, will represent the public on the Mayor's Radio Commis- sion of Chicago. .He has just been ap- pointed by Mayor Dever, who selected <7 hd Frank E. Goodnow him on recommendation of the West- ern Society of Engineers. Other members of the commission, the announced purpose of which will be to harmonize all radio activities in Chicago and nearby territory, will rep- resent broadcasting stations and man- ufacturers and dealers in radio equip- ment. Mr. Goodnow, whose personal hobby for the last fifteen years has been radio, recently returned from abroad where he combined a study of elec- trical development, in the interests of his company, with that of radio prog- ress throughout the nations of Europe. His prominence in the amateur radio field, together with his contact with Good Auto Repairing HANSON MOTOR COMPANY 555-57 Chestnut Street Winnetka, Illinois Phone Winnetka 330 the "public" both "of Chicago "and throughout the territory served by the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, made Mr. Goodnow the choice of the Western Society of Engineers when Mayor Dever asked the advice of that organization in making his ap- pointment to the commission. PLANS ARE ANNOUNCED FOR SKOKIE PLAYFIELD ~- iy (Continued from page 1) lage engineer, has been assisting the board in working out the problem. The most feasible suggestion that has been made, and it is one that is being very seriously considered, is the idea of con- structing a low dirt dike along the west- ern line of the golf course, starting at North avenue on the north and extending south so as to hold the water back from the golf course. It will be impossible to take levels and get any definite fig- ures on this project until somewhat later in the summer when the ground is dryer. "Another factor that enters into the question is the fact that there is a move- ment to acquire more land for park pur- poses in that neighborhood, and the ex- act location of such a dike cannot be determined until it is known exactly what land is to be included back of it. Tak- ing into consideration all of the angles of the situation, it is confidently believed that a solution will be worked out which will be a satisfactory one and which will insure maximium amount of play on the golf course with a minimum amount of inconveriience. "So far as this year is concerned, judg- ing from the present weather, there is a strong probability that there will be at least three months of good golf play- | ing on the course this season. Such. iunds as the Winnetka Park district has taken in for goli fees have been and will be much needed to meet the very unusual conditions this year, and to keep the course gong as a nucleus for the very much improved course which it is hoped to develop during the next few years as the plans of the board for the future are put into effect."
