" rr WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 1924 Winnetka Girls in Plans for Service Club's Play HE officers and directors of the Service club do not relax through- out the summer season from their plans for the one big annual event, held in the autumn, whereby funds are raised to provide contributions to different Chi- cago charities. Although the date was previously announced, November 7 and 8, the name and nature of the coming production is now given out. A two- act musical comedy, "Cynthia," by Charles S. Morgan, Jr., of Philadelphia, has been selected for the benefit per- Mes Robert Hotz formance which will draw Chicago and north shore society to the Aryan Grotto on the two aforementioned days. It has been stated that Miss Emilie Hoyt will be in charge of the debuntante chorus. Mrs. Robert Hotz (Elizabeth Prinde- ville), the club's new president, presided at the meeting held this week at the Chicago Woman's Athletic club, for the purpose of completing the plans for the production of "Cynthia." --(-- A marriage in which Winnetkans par- ticipated took place on August 15, at the Ravenswood Methodist Episcopal church, when Dorothy Mary Chal- linor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Stafford Challinor of Chicago, became the bride of Howard Warren Shaw of Winnetka. Dr. George Taylor and Rev. H. Dalzell, cousin of the groom, performed the ceremony in the pres- ence of 400 guests. The bride wore a gown of em- broidered net, and her veil of tulle and old point lace formed the train. She carried a shower bouquet of ivory roses and lilies-of-the-valley. A Colonial note was carried out in the attire of her attendants. The matron of honor, Mrs. Ross Utley, and the bridesmaids, Miss Katherine Shaw, the groom's sister, Miss Dor- othy Rose of Wilmette, Miss Ellen Stryker and Miss Ruth Vivian of Ravenswood, and Geneva Eddinger of Winnetka, wore gowns of yellow and green, and carried Colonial bouquets. Gertrude Schryver of Evanston, the little flower girl, wore a yellow satin frock and carried a basket of pink rose petals. Little Dicky Nelson of Ravenswood, the ring bearer, wore a quaint old-fashioned suit with long white linen trousers. Ewart Cook of Wilmette served as Mr. Shaw's best man, and Mayland Challinor, brother of the bride, A. M. Mayland, her uncle, Ross Utley, Ed- ward Winchell and Dick Hamby were ushers. Mr. and Mrs. Shaw will be at home in Rogers Park after September 15. They are spending their honeymoon at Portage Point and upper Michigan. --Q-- Dr. and Mrs. E. V. L.
