v) WINNETKA WEEKLY TALK, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1924 13 Garden Provides Setting at Haven-Martin Wedding HE, marriage of Miss .Sylvia Sara Haven to Mr. N. C. Martin, took place Saturday afternoon, Septem- ber 6, at the home of the bride's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B. Haven of Highland Park. Dr. Douglass H. Cornell of Glencoe officiated. The wedding was soleminized in the gardens of the Haven home under a canopy of hazelnut boughs as a back- ground for the decoration scheme of goldenrod. The wedding supper in the gardens immediately followed the cere- mony. Miss Helen Southward of Kenilworth was maid of honor at the ceremony and other attendants of the bride were the Misses Betty Neems of Evanston and Miss Eleanor Effler of Chicago, brides- maids. Sara Jane Haven of Winnetka was the flower girl. Ribbon bearers were Betty, Jane and Ruth Searl, Louise and Anita Jane Watson, Charlotte Werth, Gertrude Folkner and Jean May Patter- son. ; Attending Mr. Martin as best man was Arthur B. Haven, Jr., brother of the bride. Messrs. T. F. Flewelling and Mr. Irving Timberlake were ushers. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin crepe. The coronet of the bride's veil was arranged from a genuine lace hand- kerchief made by her grandmother and was studded with pearls. The maid of honor wore a gown of peach beaded net with tulle. The brides- maids wore gowns of a blending shade af yellow, with gold slippers. Mrs. Martin is a niece of Mrs. H. W. Dunmore of 415 Maple avenue, Win- netka, and granddaughter of Milton J. Timberlake, also of Winnetka. _ Mr. and Mrs. Martin will be at home in Highland Park following a brief wedding trip. Mr. Martin formerly lived in Wilmette. ---- Mr. and Mrs. Laird Bell of 1352 Tower road are expected back next week from Huron Mountain, Mich- igan, where they have heen since August 1. ---- Mr. Fred Morphett, 964 Tower road, entertained a few members of the Prai- rie club at his home last Saturday after- noon after the group had walked to the village from Fort Sheridan. --O Mrs. Edward Boulter of 706 Foxdale avenue is spending a few weeks in northern Wisconsin. Kenilworth Boys Show Prowess in Track Work Three Kenilworth boys, Tom Hicks, Harry Dubsky and Walter Marx won many honors in the final track meets last week at Camp Manitowish, con- ducted by the Wisconsin Y. M. C. A. at Boulder Lake near Boulder Junc- tion, Wis. Tom Hicks, in Class C under 100 pounds, won first in 100 yard dash, first in broad jump, second in shot put, second in high jump and third in baseball throw. Harry Dubsky, Class A over 130 pounds, won first in broad jump, sec- ond in baseball throw, third in 100 yard dash. Walter Marx, 522 Essex road, Class B, 100 to 129 pounds, won second in shot put, third in baseball throw. ; These boys won more points in athletics than the boys from any of the other cities and towns in Wis- consin and Illinois.
